Gov. Tim Pawlenty just can’t seem to resist another road trip these days.
On Tuesday he’s back in Washington D.C. to take part in the National Infrastructure Advisory Council Cyber Security and Mandatory Ethics briefing. The briefing will be at Secret Service Headquarters on 950 H. Street Northwest (should they be giving that address out?).
It is, of course, secret and so is closed to the press.
And your big question is?
Patricia, we know you are a liberal. So you don’t have to worry about pulling punches. Just be upfront about it. It won’t impact the buying habits for those of us that aren’t buying from Star Trib advertisers already.
CNC, I know it’s hard for you to understand things that aren’t spelled out plainly in simple English: She’s speculating that he’s meeting with McCain’s people.
You’re so quick to think the worst of people…like being “a liberal” is the worst thing in the world.
I think being an a$$ho1e is worse.
how about a liberal a$$ho1e? that has to be worse.
Obama is known for drawing huge crowds to many of his speeches. In May, a record 75,000 jammed into a riverside park in Portland, Ore., to hear him speak shortly before that state’s primary. His convention speech on the final night of the convention coincides with the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963.
The Illinois senator is running to be the first black president.
2 things caught my eye here. 1 I thought he was running for president, not black president. who is playing the race card again? 2 when he gave the speech that “75000″ people came out to see, they actually had a free concert of popular bands beforehand. i doubt they all came to see him.
First OT — I have no idea where you got that from — AP? Blog? CNN?
The concert was beforehand, not after (would you stick around for Barack after your favorite band? probably not) — but the thing was in PORTLAND, OREGON for crying out loud! Not sure if you’ve been there, but it’s tree-hugger central. I’m surprised there weren’t more actually.
Saying he’s running to be the first black president isn’t “playing the race card” — it’s mentioning the fact that if he wins, he’d be the first. It’s notable and historic. Let’s face it, if he were a Republican, you guys would be yelling and screaming that he was black.
OT, it’s like if I said to you, “There’s a lot of yellow VWs on the road today,” you’d start seeing yellow VWs everywhere. Not because there are suddenly more of them, but because you’re specifically looking for them. You’re looking really hard for examples of bias in the media.
In the past when our Gov traveled to Washington, DC the Strib reporters said it was on weekends; so he wouldn’t take away from state business Monday through Friday.
The reality was he was traveling on weekdays (Friday, Mondays) and his job is seven days a week.
At least this time they didn’t mislead and reported he was in DC on a weekday.
I’m planning a trip out east this summer….and I won’t be the VP candidate either. Does that make my trip newsworthy as well?
If there is anything Pawlenty needs a lesson in it is ethics.
Oh PLEASE Krogy - if anyone needs an ethics lesson it’s some of the DFL officials.
If you don’t like Pawlenty’s politics, then say so. But don’t make it out like he’s crooked. He’s been a boy scout since he started in the state legislature - everyone knows that.
SgtPendleton, time will tell.

If integrity counts, Romney and Pawlenty are both unfit for public office. I don’t think the Obama camp would be reluctant to use this information against them. Nothing airs out dirty laundry like a political campaign.
Krogy, it is people like you that make election years so intolerable for people like me.
Thank you for your completely unsupported statement Krogy.
The sky is green.
“The sky is green.”
Sarge, that’s false. The sky is not green……it is noisy.
“the National Infrastructure Advisory Council Cyber Security and Mandatory Ethics briefing.”
Any other gov’s gonna be there? A good reporter would know and say.
Is it connected to his leadership in the goveror’s conference? A good reporter would know and say.
Does it relate to our state’s cyber security or our state links with federal security? A good reporter would know and say.
Does the governor have a mandate to keep office hours even when the legislature is not in session?
Absent info on these items, it seems to me we just have one more example of political mudslinging.
Pray for November 15th, when SOME of this will go away I hope.
Hey John - there’s this new phenomenon called BLOGGING — it’s an informal style of writing and sharing information…not the same as reporting. This is a blog - normal standards of journalism don’t apply here.
Oh, well then…
I thought she was a reporter, and for a newspaper with integrity. My bad.
My old professor used to say “The false is never so false as when it’s ALMOST true.”
I remember shortly after he was sworn in as governor, Paws promptly created three high level, high paying position in his administration and then appointed three of his friends to those positions.
That told me all I needed to know to see what the following years would be like.
Here we are, how many years later and look where our state and country is at, precisely because of the Republicans philosophies and policies.
I saw a sign a while back that read:
After the last seven and half years, one would have to be a fool to vote for a Republican in November.
That pretty well sums it up.
