U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann has not lost sight of ACORN. Undeterred by a recent legislative setback in her efforts block the community group from applying for federal housing assistance grants, the Minnesota Republican said Thursday that she plans to introduce stand-alone legislation targeting ACORN – and presumably others accused of voter registration fraud.Â
ACORN, which has registered tens of thousands of low-income voters around the nation, became a major GOP target in the 2008 presidential election. Bachmann made the announcement in a well-attended Capitol Hill press conference. But that will probably lengthen her odds in the Democrat-controlled Congress.Â
Her last attempt was through an amendment that somehow got past veteran Democratic lawmaker Barney Frank of Massachusetts. Frank, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, blocked Bachmann’s amendment, but only after it made it to the House floor as part of a Democratic mortgage reform bill. This time, it’s probably fair to say that he’ll see it coming.Â
So you can dish it out, but you can’t take it. Color me shocked.
What part of “Fvcker” made you picture someone crying and running out the door? I’ve been patiently waiting for a response for two days. You’re the one who ignored everything I said except one word.
Fvcker.
Time for the Pelosi truth squad. First witness Nancy Pelosi. First discussion point – torture statute, Section 2340A(c), :
Conspiracy— A person who conspires to commit an offense under this section shall be subject to the same penalties (other than the penalty of death) as the penalties prescribed for the offense, the commission of which was the object of the conspiracy.
First lawbreaker by her own account- Pelosi.
First lawbreaker by her own account- Pelosi.
We all know she only meant those rules to be applied to Republicans.
Hey look at what our Prez said:
“President Barack Obama, calling current deficit spending “unsustainable,†warned of skyrocketing interest rates for consumers if the U.S. continues to finance government by borrowing from other countries.”
Seems like he has been reading our blog posts D2SI!
“President Barack Obama, calling current deficit spending “unsustainable,†warned of skyrocketing interest rates for consumers if the U.S. continues to finance government by borrowing from other countries.”
It’s only so he can say he said that during the next phase of the perpetual campaign.
Actions speak louder than words.
Hey, a conservative quartet. Who sings bass and who’s the whiskey tenor?
Don’t look at me. I meant trio.

It’s all so confusing for you isn’t it.
“And must have whiskey,”
There’s you whiskey tenor, put me down as the beer bass.
Righto Guv, one Bass beer. What’ll it be for you other three?

Salute!
But no lefties (even Sarge just punted) answered on the prior thread:
If we crush a terrorist’s skull and suck out his brain, is that concerned torture, or murder?
Or is it simply a “choice” decision, and thus acceptable under the leftie/liberal doctrines?
Have my rightie friends noticed the libs seems to have their energy sucked out of the blog, esp by Pelosi?

Don’t ask. Buy stock. Ford’s sounding pretty competitive to consumers now in the hybrid competition. Can GM be far behind?

Was Clinton joking about Cheney shooting people? Do you think he ment he hopes Cheney will shoot some more republicans? These lefty eliminationist dog whistle coded jokes are getting out of hand.

Instead you had to run around the country with your big mouths flapping just so you could win a few elections ( which this issue probable had little effect on the outcomes anyway)
Its just despicable so now lets find who knew what when.
And this Pelosi thing. There is blood in the water but now lets see if the sharks will come.
We have learned in the past couple of days in sworn testimony before a subcommittee of the Judiciary committee that the FBI and the CIA professionals never thought that waterboarding worked or could work. We have also learned that the drive to water board some of the so-called “high value” prisoners in CIA jails outside of the United States because the Bush Administration was deperately trying to establish a link between Iraq and Al Quida.
In other words, the whole torture for information was a fraud because the radical amateurs running the Bush “war on terrorism” only wanted information which conformed to their fraudulent scheme that somehow Iraq had something to do with 9/11.
When the enhanced interrogation techniques were used, it was not being done by CIA or FBI professiona, heck no. Instead they brought in private contractors with real profession experience in interrogation.
The fraud and the lies continue now. The same dangerous radicals that hijacked American foreign policy in the Bush Administration will stop at nothing to continue their packet of lies and deceit.
Keep it up though; even though President Obama does not seem to have much of a taste for going back into the Bush years to set the record straight regarding how the Bushies disgraced the values that America supposedly stands for, it may still happen. Because of the continuing campaign of lies of distortion, we just may get what is needed which is a real examination of what went on.
And, I see Tiny is still sure that there is still WMD buried in Iraq because, you know, the Bushies never lied. If they said that Saddam had WMD, then it must be true. Never actually check the facts; just go with whatever you want. That way, it is always “Mission Accomplished!”
correction:
When the enhanced interrogation techniques were used, it was not being done by CIA or FBI professiona, heck no. Instead they brought in private contractors with NO real professional experience in interrogation.
The FBI professionals considered the hired amateur interrogators as a joke.
“In other words, the whole torture for information was a fraud because the radical amateurs running the Bush “war on terrorism”
Shut Up!
Everybody is entitled to their opinion.
“In other words, the whole torture for information was a fraud because the radical amateurs running the Bush “war on terrorism”
That’s not an opinion that’s contrived nonsense.
Hey let the Grownups have a damn decent discussion here will Ya True, god almighty!
“The fraud and the lies continue now. The same dangerous radicals that hijacked American foreign policy in the Bush Administration will stop at nothing to continue their packet of lies and deceit.”
I didnt realize Pelosi was a Bush hack.
So Tiny, did Iraq have anything to do with 9/11?
Deacon writes:
“I didnt realize Pelosi was a Bush hack.”
Why would Pelosi be a Bush hack?
Because she is lying now. She knew what was going on and kept it on the DL because she was more concerned with getting the majority in the house than expossing torture.
There’s no way Pelosi didn’t know waterboarding was going on.
Hell, I knew waterboarding was going on and I wasn’t getting briefed by the CIA.
The administration was practically bragging that they were doing for God’s sake.
I agree with Tiny on the Pelosi issue. If the lefties and progressives actually care about truth transperency and exposure of past transgressions then they better be on Pelosi’s partisan @ss and do some digging.
Nice stutter Pelosi, yeah you look believable with your scripted response. About as believable as Ryan Leaf when he did all of his scripted “appologies” to the San Diego press.
Deacon writes:
“Because she is lying now. She knew what was going on and kept it on the DL because she was more concerned with getting the majority in the house than expossing torture.”
It is my understanding, that the briefings which were provided to Nancy Pelosi, when she was in the Democratic Leadership of the House and those which came after she became Speaker, fall under the provisions of the National Security laws of the United States.
These laws mandate that some members of Congress (generally senior members) must be briefed on a wide range of National Security topics. These briefings are held in a high security room where the member of Congress is not permitted to take notes, can not have any staff with them to help the understand the briefings and the briefings themselves are considered secret so that a disclosure of what you have been told during the briefing is not lawful and subject to prosecution.
Are you saying that Pelosi should have ignored the law (like a Republican) and disclosed secret information (like a Republican) which you were told would be damaging to the interests of the United States.
You are just being a hypocrite on this Deacon and you know it. You just want to play your little game that everyone is dirty regardless of the facts.
Why not make sure you have a case before you spread your disinformation in the future.
Bottom line: Pelosi supports a Truth Commission her critics do not.
DAR you didn’t “know” waterboarding was going on you suspected it. Now we “know” because of all the documents and people coming forward.
“So Tiny, did Iraq have anything to do with 9/11?”
Never said it did..but Saddam needed to go and something had to change in the Middle East. Wishing for a change to happen on its own over there would have been a fairytale.
Live long enough True and we’ll see it will have started the sea change for True Democracy in the Middle East.
I know its hard for you to wait. But see in the grownup world things take time and sometimes they can be hard. I know its just much easy to blah blah blah blah all the time like your diaper is full. Thats why you should go back to sucking your pacifier all day long and leave the debate to Grownups
I should have said her Republican congressional critics do not want a truth commission.

brimn2001′s return
The problem with what you are saying double_a_ron is that the information regarding waterboarding did not come out from the politicians being briefed. (I would argue that they were following the law and not talking about what they were told.) The stories that came out about harsh interrogation methods came from the press.
There were several sources for the information leaking out of the press. The FBI professionals who were shut out of the interrogation process very early let many know that they thought the CIA interrogation program was unprofessional and not reliable. There appear to have been military sources.
But, to criticize Speaker Pelosi because she followed the law and did not disclose information is nonsense. More right wing blather trying to obscure who actually is responsible for this dark chapter in our nation’s history.
“truth commission”
Christ! You frickin’ people ever talk like damn Communists.
“DAR you didn’t “know†waterboarding was going on you suspected it. ”
OK I’ll grant you that point. But honestly Dora, do you really think Miz Pelosi didn’t know waterboarding was going on? How about extraordinary rendition? Did she have the blinders on there too?
Either she knew and looked the other way or she’s an ignoramus and unfit to lead. Take your pick.
OK, TB, so your tack on this is Pelosi knew our country had a torture policy but didn’t speak out because of her profound respect for the rule of law. That’s some Cheney style logic there.
“You are just being a hypocrite on this Deacon and you know it. You just want to play your little game that everyone is dirty regardless of the facts.”
Good point. I wasnt aware of the rules of disclosure. But that still doesnt answer the question that she didnt know what was going on. If Im being a hypocrite over her not blowing the whistle on torture, then youre being a hypocrite on her lying now about not knowing anything. She knew waterboarding was happening and is lying today about it. She also apparently did nothing internally to stop it. If she did she’d have to admit she knew something.
“Are you saying that Pelosi should have ignored the law (like a Republican) and disclosed secret information (like a Republican) which you were told would be damaging to the interests of the United States.”
Interesting point to consider. If there was torture going on doesnt she have a responsibility to the country, her oath of office to uphold the constitution, and the laws of the land not to mention humand rights to blow the whistle on it? Is she obliged to keep illegal activity secret? Is that your point True? Take about Hypocracy. If you believe that whats the point of ANY truth commisson? Lets just seal the documents and put them back in the vault then.
Was she just playing along like a stooge or what?
“That’s some Cheney style logic there”
Yeah!
“Bottom line: Pelosi supports a Truth Commission her critics do not.”
Hook line and sinker. No she doesnt. She might say that when the cameras are on but a truth commission is the END of her political carear. It will never happen as long as she is around. At least not in a way that is detrimental to her political carear.
Deacon:
The one thing I agree with you on is that it is now necessary to go public and lay out who knew what and what they were told.
I have no problem with with full public hearings on this and let the chips fall where they may. There were other members of Congress (both Republican & Democrat) who received briefings. Let’s find out what really went on and then we can judge who the scoundrals were.
As I understand it, that is what Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Hoyer called for yesterday.
If the spin going around here gets any faster, the centrifugal force is going to paste my monitor to side of the wall.
This is grab the popcorn entertaining.
Apparently True believes any Republican Bush staffers who knew there was torture going on should be subject to a truth commission to get the facts out and presumabley punish them? But Pelosi gets a pass because she was under a legal requirement to keep her mouth shut? Is that the deal true?
One or the other, either they have the truth commission and expose all these people for covering this thing up including Bush, Cheney AND Pelosi, the CIA and FBI and everyone else involved and throw the book a them for breaking the law and concealing it. OR they dont do anything and move on.
“OK, TB, so your tack on this is Pelosi knew our country had a torture policy but didn’t speak out because of her profound respect for the rule of law. That’s some Cheney style logic there.”
I can not agree with you here ron. Pelosi could, and I think she did, speak out on press reports of torture and waterboarding. That was OK. What was not OK was to bring into the public debate information that was provided to a member of Congress in a National Security briefing. It actually does hamstring a public figure when they have access to that kind of information because they can not say what they know without breaking the secrecy laws.
That is why I want to know much more about this before I would condemn anyone in this debate.
“As I understand it, that is what Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Hoyer called for yesterday.”
I wouldnt bet on Pelosi. Did you see her press briefing? Stutter much? At least she wasnt waging her finger at the camera. Thats a dead give away Palmero/Cliniton style.
Yeah sure you betcha Tiny. Like using the word “homeland” and “enhanced interrogation techniques” that come straight from the Gestapo’s playbook. Who coined those again? Oh yeah. Republicans.
DAR, She only knew what she was told. Suspecting is not knowing. And that applies to her and every other member of Congress just as it applies to you.
What Pelosi knew or didn’t know is simply a distraction. The real point that leads from saying Pelosi knew is conceeding that Bush/Cheney were indeed torturing people even though they repeatedly denied it and much sooner than we even suspected.
And it’s starting to look like they did it to get confessions about an Iraq / Al Qaida connection after the invasion to support their reasons for going to war in the first place. In other words it wasn’t to “keep America safe” it was to cover their butts. And since we know from experts that torture produces false confessions it seems as though their intent was to get “confessions” about such a connection. They didn’t care if they were false.
Pelosi is willing to sink or swim on the findings of a Truth Commission. Her Republican Congressional critics are not. Let’s get it all out. Who knew what. What could have been done to stop it. Blue makes a good point. They are sworn to secrecy when they are briefed. It’s against the law to talk about what they hear. So any of them, Republican or Democrat, would have been breaking the law to tell what they knew. Congress had no power to stop Bush/Cheney from torturing people. Even if they did know what they were doing.
“That is why I want to know much more about this before I would condemn anyone in this debate.”
Anyone?
Well Deacon, there’s one way to find out if she does or doesn’t. The Republicans should call her bluff then and support it.
“Congress had no power to stop Bush/Cheney from torturing people. Even if they did know what they were doing. ”
bullsh!t.
“They are sworn to secrecy when they are briefed. It’s against the law to talk about what they hear.”
So what? You allow that kind of stuff to happen without doing anything about it and its on you. If the law makes you complicit in something illegal should you follow it? I dont think you should, but Im not a lawyer.
Im not sure but it seems to me if Pelosi was a Republican Dora and True and other Dems would be tap dancing on her head.
“She also apparently did nothing internally to stop it.”
And you know that how? You have no idea what she or anybody else might have done.
“doesnt she have a responsibility to the country, her oath of office to uphold the constitution, and the laws of the land not to mention humand rights to blow the whistle on it?”
This is a problem. What are members of Congress supposed to do? How should they respond? I read about a couple of them, Harmon and Rockefeller I think, wrote in their own hand letter objecting and put them in a safe. That’s just not enough. There should be a way to bring that to someone’s attention. But who? The AG’s office was in Bush’s back pocket too. All the checks and balances broke down. By design.
Nice spin there Deacon; but, I am only interested in what we know based upon the facts. I also see this whole debate of “who knew what” as sort of an effort to avoid actually discussing what was actually done.
That is what the hearings in the Senate have been about the past couple of days and they have provided a great deal of information about what was done and why it was done. What we need now is reliable information of what occured. Then we can judge the responsibility of those involved once this is understood.

Now, just so we’re clear.
I think waterboarding is torture and I think we should make sure no one ever does it again.
But I’m very leery of forming “truth commissions” war crimes tribunals, watever you want to call them because I think the witch hunt potential is far too great. people with less than pure motives will likely use it to persecute their political opponents. If water boarding was secret it was a pretty damn open secret. Are you going to prosecute everyone who voted for Bush last time around? Really in one way or another all of us Americans were complicit in the abuses of the last 8 years. Even Democrats. Pelosi has no ethical standing in my mind to lead the charge for prosecuting anyone for torture. Because she knew.
“Well Deacon, there’s one way to find out if she does or doesn’t. The Republicans should call her bluff then and support it.”
I would too. But she knows they wont. Thats why she is pressing for it. But dont tell me you believe her. Yeah I know “we need to wait”. But what does your gut say? Mine says she is full of sh:t.
What should they have done to stop it DAR?
Hi Dora – long time no see!
“Truth Commission” is B.S. and the lamest of covers. She needs to step down because she’s become a liability to the Dems. Get someone in there who knows how to build consensus.
On the flip side, I smell an investigation coming up on Cheney. Now one of Colin Powell’s guys is saying Cheney was torturing to get info on the non-existent connection between Iraq and al-Queda.
FINALLY it’s starting to make sense. The purpose of this style of interrogation is never concered with getting the truth, it’s main function is to obtain confessions — and it works very well at that.
Cheney was the guy pushing CIA for this — and his office recommended the harsh techniques. I hate that SOB more and more every day.
““Truth Commission†is B.S. and the lamest of covers. She needs to step down because she’s become a liability to the Dems. Get someone in there who knows how to build consensus.”
Amen
“What should they have done to stop it DAR?”
She could have leaked it and taken her chances with going to jail. Or she could have introduced some legislation or held, I dont know, a truth commission while it was happening? Why can you only have these commissions after the fact?
See Pelosi just couldn’t keep her mouth shut yesterday so now the issue is NO LONGER when or what she knew but if she was LIED to by the CIA.
You can’t just go around making claims like that..so lets see if she was.
Your gut would probably say that about anything she says or does Deacon.
Why won’t the Republicans support it? This whole flap they started about Pelosi or other Democrats “knew” is nothing more than a distraction. Who knew is not a justification for the torture that obviously occured and that they repeatedly denied. It wasn’t a few bad apples. It was the highest levels of the Bush/Cheney administration.
Apparently the Republican justification for torture comes down to first trying to say it wasn’t torture, then conceding that it was torture but some Democrates were aware of it. How are either of those justifications for the use of torture?
SgtP, at least this discussion is topical. I’m tired of the recycled bs and nonsensical garbage that these threads devolve into.
And this BS she couldn’t object because is was secret is nonsense. The notes of the CLOSED DOOR SESSION shows she said nothing in there. Made NO OBJECTIONS.
So stop it.
Shes caught…she lied so why not treat her like any other politician who lies.
Or do you only think Republicans lie?
“Yeah sure you betcha Tiny. Like using the word “homeland†and “enhanced interrogation techniques†that come straight from the Gestapo’s playbook. Who coined those again? Oh yeah. Republicans.”
I would guess “enhanced interrogation techniques†was and is either a military description or a CIA one. All nonpartisan organizations. So shut up you phony fraud.
“homelandâ€. You don’t have a Homeland Dora? God you must hate this country.
Dora you have NO CLUE what your talking about. Not just sometimes but each and every post you put out there.
““Truth Commission†is B.S. and the lamest of covers. She needs to step down because she’s become a liability to the Dems. Get someone in there who knows how to build consensus.â€
I read the above and I have to wonder what planet the writer is on. The Republicans want no consensus. The Republicans will not work responsibily and any major legislation, so far, that I can see.
The Democrats in Congress are just going to have to bite the bullet and pass their agenda with little or no Republican support. Elections have consequences and the Democrats have substantial majorities in both houses of Congress. They also have a President who will block legislation as was true in 2007 and 2008.
Now is the time to enact what the Democrats promised when they ran for election in 2006 and 2008. It also happens to be what the country wants and expects.
correction
They also have a President who will NOT block legislation as was true in 2007 and 2008.
“Your gut would probably say that about anything she says or does Deacon.”
My gut reaction ususally is to doubt anything any politician says when they are speaking in absolute terms. Its not Pelosi personally, its the fact that she is a politician that makes her suspect.
But I asked what YOUR gut says. But your none answer is all I need. Ill take that as an admission that you thik she is lying but cant bring yourself to admit it in public because of your political loyalty to your party of choice.
” It was the highest levels of the Bush/Cheney administration.”
And everyone else who knew and didn nothing to stop it including Pelosi. You guys are frauds if you cant see that.
“Apparently the Republican justification for torture comes down to first trying to say it wasn’t torture, then conceding that it was torture but some Democrates were aware of it. How are either of those justifications for the use of torture?”
Aparently the Democrat stance is that we knew about it but were powerless to stop it as lawmakers because of a legal technicality that says the truth can only come out after the torture is over. There is an exclusion period for exposing human rights abuses that are ‘Top Secret’ thats lasts for a few years.
“She could have leaked it and taken her chances with going to jail. ”
Easy for you to say after the fact. And put it into context of the time and the mood of the country.
When the highest levels of the adminstration are part of the problem and the AG’s office and essentially every other Dept. becomes just another political arm of the administration, what the hell are members of Congress supposed to do?
This is what happens when political loyalists who took party loyalty oaths are appointed to all those positions in all those Dept’s. Dissenters were fired and marginalized. There is a very big hole there. I have no idea what could be done to remedy it.
Tiny, you crossed the line again with:
“homelandâ€. You don’t have a Homeland Dora? God you must hate this country.
To question the patriotism of another American is pathetic particularily in light of your ravings this morning.
Just who made you Elvis and eligible to determine just who a real American is? Once again you have become a cartoon cutout of a Archie Bunker type loon.
I’ll just use your well worn phrase back at ya Tiny: SHUT UP!
“Easy for you to say after the fact. And put it into context of the time and the mood of the country.”
Either she is a big pu55y or is willing to compromise.
“When the highest levels of the adminstration are part of the problem and the AG’s office and essentially every other Dept. becomes just another political arm of the administration, what the hell are members of Congress supposed to do?”
Uphold their oath of office or become complicit in the law breaking. Do you want all answers to be easy? Governing is hard work and can be dangerous. Deal with it or get another line of work. If Pelosi knew and did NOTHING because of some legal technicality and turned her back on the law and human rights she deserves what ever she gets.
I dont know what Id do but I know going to jail to preserve your integrity and follow the spirit of the law while preserving human rights and the constitution is a noble act. If shed done that shed be pardoned by now.
“Just who made you Elvis and eligible to determine just who a real American is? Once again you have become a cartoon cutout of a Archie Bunker type loon.”
Your sense of humor is getting better.
My “gut” is as irrelevant as yours is Deacon.
What you can’t seem to see is that who knew what after the fact has nothing to do with the highest levels of the Bush/Cheney administration ordering it.
“Dissenters were fired and marginalized.”
Are you saying she kept her mouth shut to preserve her position? If so I agree.
“Aparently the Democrat stance is that we knew about it but were powerless to stop it as lawmakers because of a legal technicality that says the truth can only come out after the torture is over”
I haven’t heard any Democrat say that. Their stance is that they were mislead and lied to.
“My “gut†is as irrelevant as yours is Deacon.”
Just answer the question. Irrelevant or not Im interested. But your refussal is telling.
” What you can’t seem to see is that who knew what after the fact has nothing to do with the highest levels of the Bush/Cheney administration ordering it. ”
Im not saying she caused or ordered it. Im saying she did nothing to stop it when she could have. And that she is lying today.
“I haven’t heard any Democrat say that. Their stance is that they were mislead and lied to.”
And you believe that? Good for you. Your willingness to believe politicians up against a rock and a hard place when they are on your “team” is sweet.
” If Pelosi knew…”
And you’ve come full circle. She says she didn’t and wants a full investigation. Whether you believe she’s sincere or not doesn’t matter. The Republicans could easily call her bluff. Let them. Let it all out and let the investigation shine light on what could and should members of Congress do in those kind of circumstances.
“But your refussal is telling.”
What bs. Keep your own words in your own mouth don’t try to put them in mine.
“Im saying she did nothing to stop it when she could have. And that she is lying today.”
That’s your opinion. Nancy Pelosi had the power, singlehandely, to stop Bush/Cheney from torturing people if she would have just told someone. She could have been noble and broke her oath of office. She could have gone to jail. You really are so naive.
“Your willingness to believe politicians up against a rock and a hard place when they are on your “team†is sweet.”
and you aren’t willing to believe anything a Democratic politician says or does.
Somewhere in between is likely the truth.
“What bs. Keep your own words in your own mouth don’t try to put them in mine.”
What a joke Dora. Im trying to get you to put your words in your mouth. Does your gut feeling on Pelosi say shes lying or not? Why cant you answer that question?
” Nancy Pelosi had the power, singlehandely, to stop Bush/Cheney from torturing people if she would have just told someone. She could have been noble and broke her oath of office. She could have gone to jail. You really are so naive.”
The reason she didnt was to save her own ass. Im not naive. I know she didnt and I know why she didnt. I also know she could have and made the choice not to.
“and you aren’t willing to believe anything a Democratic politician says or does.”
Or a Republican.
“Somewhere in between is likely the truth.”
Thats what Ive said from the beginning. Its my reason for being on this blog.
Dora says:
“And you’ve come full circle. She says she didn’t and wants a full investigation. Whether you believe she’s sincere or not doesn’t matter. The Republicans could easily call her bluff. Let them. Let it all out and let the investigation shine light on what could and should members of Congress do in those kind of circumstances.”
Seems pretty reasonable to me. Granted, these investigations drag on and on, but let’s get to the bottom of it. And, as Dors says, give future Congress members guidance on what is expected of them in the future in these situations. Unless you have personal or political problems with
Pelosi, why is this such a bad idea?
This whole discussion has shifted the focus from who DID what to who KNEW what was being done and WHEN. These are significant questions, but equally?
I’m curious. Which question is more important to this country, now and in the future?
Can someone answer the question why investigating torture and having the truth come out now is legit and and not when it was happening? Why is it believable that Pelosi wants truth now when she kept the secret while it was happening?
“Can someone answer the question why investigating torture and having the truth come out now is legit and and not when it was happening?”
Neither is legit. But better late than never.
“I’m curious. Which question is more important to this country, now and in the future?”
I think committing the crime and allowing it to continue are both equally troubling. Your oath is to the constitution first, not positioning yourself for the party. Dont give me this BS she couldnt do anything.
Personally Id rather set this all on the back burner and deal with more important issues than this torture debate. The real distraction is the debate itself. Its a distraction from everyday issues that effect all of us. Not existential questions of who we are as americans and how torture effects that question.
“Neither is legit. But better late than never.”
You mean both are legit? As in its legit to blow the whistle while the torture is happening and if not while after?
Deacon, you don’t “know” sh1t. It’s all pure speculation on your part.
“Does your gut feeling on Pelosi say shes lying or not? Why cant you answer that question?”
I don’t automatically assume she’s lying like you do. And I don’t use my “gut” to inform me like you (and apparently George Bush and we know how well that worked out).
“Why is it believable that Pelosi wants truth now when she kept the secret while it was happening?”
You are being a bit disingenuous here, Deacon. Do you really not remember the polical realities of 2003? You were either with the administration or supporting terrorism. The was no middle ground. Pelosi wasn’t the only member of Congress apprised of the situation. Did ANYONE else come out in indignation and horror when they found out?
No one else fell on their sword. But you think Pelosi should have. Sucks to be her I guess…..
“You mean both are legit? As in its legit to blow the whistle while the torture is happening and if not while after?”
Steady, old fella. I said NEITHER is legit. Best to blow the whistle as soon as you know. But better to shed light on the situation later than to not investigate at all.
I hate that SOB more and more every day.
Considering that he shot a lawyer in the face, that’s a lot of hate.
I think I could forgive Hitler, if he’d only shot a lawyer in the face.
“Not existential questions of who we are as americans and how torture effects that question. ”
Not existential at all. Torture is against the law. Do we believe in the rule of law or not? Is the President above the law (I thought that was answered with Nixon but apparently not)?
What happened to “us” being better than “them”? Where is our moral authority to demand other countries uphold laws and treaties if we don’t?
Those aren’t existential questions. They are fundamental questions that define America.
“Steady, old fella. I said NEITHER is legit. Best to blow the whistle as soon as you know. But better to shed light on the situation later than to not investigate at all.”
Legit as in legitimate. Legit as in its okay to blow the whistle while its happening and if not while after or as in as soon as possible.
“Can someone answer the question why investigating torture and having the truth come out now is legit and and not when it was happening? Why is it believable that Pelosi wants truth now when she kept the secret while it was happening?”
Because times change. We are talking about briefing that took place in 2002 and 2003. At the time, we had a President of the United States, George W. Bush, who said, we do not torture. The real Bush Administration policy was buried under multiple levels of secrecy and the press, as a whole, was more interested in keeping its channels of communication open with the Administration so that they could get access.
During the height of a conflict, it is always very difficult to get an accurate picture of what is going on. I really do not understand why that is such a difficult concept.
Finally, every attempt at asking questions about what was going on and the policy being pursued was met with the standard, “why are you not supporting the troops” line. These were the heady days of “Mission Accomoplished” before the public figured out, even before the press and the policy analysts, that things were really not going all that well.
Add to that the Bushies frantic desire to find or invent anything that somehow linked 9/11 with Iraq. It was until late 2005 before the majority of the American public finally recognized that Iraq had little, if anything, to do with 9/11.
As Dr. Goebbels used to say, good propaganda is very difficult to combat (even as that Russian tank runs over your bunker in Berlin). If you are going to lie, lie BIG. And, the Bushies told a doozie, that the public bought, when they said that Iraq and 9/11 were connected.
“You were either with the administration or supporting terrorism. The was no middle ground.”
Because the DEMS acted like soft noodles. They bent and went which ever way the Admin said. They as the opposition party showed no balls or back bone and thats too bad.
“Pelosi wasn’t the only member of Congress apprised of the situation. Did ANYONE else come out in indignation and horror when they found out?”
Im using her as a proxy for the whole mess. If she knew and others knew and went along and did nothing to stop it, they are as guilty in my mind as anyone.
“No one else fell on their sword. But you think Pelosi should have. Sucks to be her I guess…..”
Group think defined. No one was willing to take a stand, thats how sh:t like this (torture) happens.
“Dont give me this BS she couldnt do anything.”
As far as I can tell the only thing she, or any other member of Congress could do, is be a whistleblower.
How exactly would that have stopped what had already happened.
“Do we believe in the rule of law or not?”
Ask Pelosi.
” What happened to “us†being better than “themâ€? Where is our moral authority to demand other countries uphold laws and treaties if we don’t?”
Well when people keep secrets about torture I wonder. Pelosi certainly didnt do her part to preserve a damn thing as far as this debate is concerned.
“How exactly would that have stopped what had already happened”
Happening. Happening Dora. My question is why didnt she do anything while it was going on?
Hows that gut?
“Group think defined. No one was willing to take a stand, thats how sh:t like this (torture) happens.”
That’s right. Nobody in the military, nobody in the CIA, nobody in the FBI, nobody in the AG, and nobody in Congress. Do you blame all of them or the administration who ordered it, had lawyers try to justify it after the fact, and who tried to cover it up?
“Finally, every attempt at asking questions about what was going on and the policy being pursued was met with the standard, “why are you not supporting the troops†line. These were the heady days of “Mission Accomoplished†before the public figured out, even before the press and the policy analysts, that things were really not going all that well.”
We know the GOP wasnt doing its job. My point is the DEMS werent either. Their job is to be the opposition. Expose the truth what ever the consequence. If you dont get reelected as a consequence so be it. Playing the politcal game was more important at the time was the real problem. Thats my point. No one did anytihng because they wanted to save their own skin. Some people seem to think thats an acceptable response to why Pelosi and others didnt do anyting. “Take a look at the political climate” isnt a good enough answer for me. I say who the EFF cares.
“Legit as in legitimate. Legit as in its okay to blow the whistle while its happening and if not while after or as in as soon as possible.”
OK, I see what you mean. I am not being clear. “Neither is legit” does not work.
As I wrote above, best to come out with the info as soon as you know. Wrong is wrong. But I think it’s better to investigate the situation now, especially as it will set a precedent for Congress in the future, than to just sweep it all under the rug, shrug our collective shoulders and move on.
That would also be wrong.
I read the above and I have to wonder what planet the writer is on. The Republicans want no consensus. The Republicans will not work responsibily and any major legislation, so far, that I can see.
I read the above and I have to wonder what planet the writer is sniffing glue on.
Pelosi hasn’t been the shining example of non-partisan, reach across the aisle cooperation. Never has and never will.
Pelosi will call for a Truth commission, and Obama will block it for reasons of national security. Everyone will “know for sure” there really was torture going on, and the Dems asses will be covered.
And the wheel will keep turning.
“Do you blame all of them or the administration who ordered it, had lawyers try to justify it after the fact, and who tried to cover it up?”
Everyone involved who knew and didnt do anything. I blame everyone. I blame the Admin, the lawyers, the CIA, Congress.
Torture is against the law.
High crime or misdemeanor?
“Personally Id rather set this all on the back burner and deal with more important issues than this torture debate. The real distraction is the debate itself. Its a distraction from everyday issues that effect all of us. Not existential questions of who we are as americans and how torture effects that question.?
Ding Ding Ding. We have a winner. It’s just to distract us from all the noise the printing presses are making debasing the dollar.
Let’s remember that Bush’s lawyers said it wasn’t torture. Right or wrong that was their conclusion. Now that Obama’s lawyers have concluded it is, we can act like the banana republic we’ve become and endlessly stare at our navels arguing about it while the country crumbles around us.
“My question is why didnt she do anything while it was going on?”
You are approaching everything from the premise that she, and all of them, knew it was going on when it was going on. And that Democrats knew exactly the same thing the administration knew. And that is not at all clear.
It’s becoming clearer that they were torturing long before anyone suspected they were and even before those briefings that are in dispute.
And several years ago many Democrats came forward saying they did not know all that the Republicans said they did.
Obviously, you are much more inclined to believe that the Democrats are lying about everything than you are to believe the Republicans are the ones lying.
We will never know with complete certainty what happened. And this distrust of government and both parties and politicians flows from the lies that lead us to the Iraq War.
And the thing that gets me is that the same people that were involved in the whole Watergate mess were involved in the Iraq War mess. The lesson they unfortunately learned from Watergate is that they had to control all the levers of government to shut down whistleblowers and control the message with an iron fist. And they were very successful at it. To the detriment of all of us.
“Let’s remember that Bush’s lawyers said it wasn’t torture. Right or wrong that was their conclusion”
Well that wasn’t the conclusion of all of them as we have recently learned. The ones that dissented had their memos “disappeared”.
“They as the opposition party showed no balls or back bone and thats too bad.”
Aye.
“Group think defined. No one was willing to take a stand, thats how sh:t like this (torture) happens.”
Make that a double.
“Let’s remember that Bush’s lawyers said it wasn’t torture. Right or wrong that was their conclusion. Now that Obama’s lawyers have concluded it is, we can act like the banana republic we’ve become and endlessly stare at our navels arguing about it while the country crumbles around us.”
While it is true that we have a pretty full plate right now, I believe part of what makes this country great is that we believe and, and are willing to fight to uphold, the dignity of man. If we let torture become a part of our MO we lose. Doesn’t matter who we’re fighting. We lose.
“Obviously, you are much more inclined to believe that the Democrats are lying about everything than you are to believe the Republicans are the ones lying.”
Wrong. I belive the Republicans were lying all along and now that the truth is out that we did torture, i think the Dems and more specifically Pelosi are lying about what they knew. I mistrust republicans as much as I do Dems when it comes to game playing. Policies and whats best I have no problem agreeing with either party depending on the issue. But this game playing stuff turns any politician into a liar.
“We lose”
Im not saying ignore it. Im saying lets prioritize. Economy 1, Healthcare 2, War 3, Torture 4 etc etc….
Scrutinizer says:
“Let’s remember that Bush’s lawyers said it wasn’t torture. Right or wrong that was their conclusion. Now that Obama’s lawyers have concluded it is, we can act like the banana republic we’ve become and endlessly stare at our navels arguing about it while the country crumbles around us.”
Interesting argument there Scruty. That would seem to make the Federal Republic of Germany a “banana republic.” The German government prosecuted all sorts of individuals for war crimes in the 1950s – 1970s. We, and our allies, prosecuted German, Italian and Japanese citizens for torturing during the war after the war concluded.
No, the real test of a mature democracy is the ability to look inward at itself and be truthful about what was done in the name of the country. Rather suprising countries like South Africa and Chile have been able to do this. The question is whether or not we will hold ourselves to the same standards we have held others or to do the convenient thing and just sweep it all under the rug.
To forget history is a very dangerous thing. Just ask the Germans and the Israelis.
I do agree with you though that this debate over the actions by the Bush Administration should not take attention away from the very real concerns facing America today. But, it is always wise to be honest about one’s history.
“Im not saying ignore it. Im saying lets prioritize. Economy 1, Healthcare 2, War 3, Torture 4 etc etc….”
Agreed.
I believe part of what makes this country great is that we believe and, and are willing to fight to uphold, the dignity of man.
I’m with you there.
If we let torture become a part of our MO we lose. Doesn’t matter who we’re fighting. We lose.
Not so much there. I would be completely against waterboarding uniformed combatants that either signed on to or merely complied with the Geneva conventions. These guys didn’t play by any rules, and as such the rules shouldn’t apply to them.
“We, and our allies, prosecuted German, Italian and Japanese citizens for torturing during the war after the war concluded.”
Again because they broke the rules.
“Rather suprising countries like South Africa and Chile have been able to do this.”
Apples and oranges. Those were countries that brutalized their own people.
“To forget history is a very dangerous thing.”
No argument there. However, honest and accurate history usually takes decades to come out.
” These guys didn’t play by any rules, and as such the rules shouldn’t apply to them.”
That is a good point, CS. My response would be-We don’t play by their rules, we play by ours. It’s what separates us from the rest of the pack. Hard to claim the high ground if you don’t operate on it.
“Hard to claim the high ground if you don’t operate on it.”
Dennis Green for President 2012
Ouch. There’s a name I’d rather forget.
“Hard to claim the high ground if you don’t operate on it.”
To them, the waterboard is high ground, Mt. Everest high ground.
I read the above and I have to wonder what planet the writer is on. The Republicans want no consensus. The Republicans will not work responsibily and any major legislation, so far, that I can see.
First TB – I am a liberal FYI. Pelosi’s #1 priority- basically from the beginning is do whatever benefits Pelosi the best. I don’t like her. I think she’s arrogant and she makes statements that hurt the Democrats. She alienates Republicans. Yes, I agree that they’re being obstructionist, but “Stop Pelosi/Reid!” is now the big rallying cry for the GOP. She needs hanlders, but she’s too arrogant and thinks she can wing it on her own.
“To them, the waterboard is high ground, Mt. Everest high ground.”
Aye, laddie. But that’s their problem. Nothing they do should affect who we are. That’s not to say we let whoever walk all over us. We need to respond as each situation requires. But there are lines we should never cross-no matter what.
Nobody said it will be easy.
The real issue here that no one’s paying attention to is that the finger is now points directly at Cheney himself – not just “the Administration”.
During this time (2002-2004), Cheney’s on TV repeatedly saying there IS a connection between al-Queda and Saddam, and now we know that behind the scenes, he’s ordering the torture of al-Queda to get them to confess that they were working with the Iraqis, using techniques perfected by the Soviets at obtaining false confessions. I think he’s putting himself in the news so much because he’s getting scard and increasingly paranoid – going so far as having his daughter give speeches about how we should invade Iran.
I hope the fcuker goes to jail. He’s nothing short of a traitor in my book.
“she’s too arrogant and thinks she can wing it on her own.”
Agreed, Sarge. It seems to be more and more all about Pelosi with her. Time to bring in someone else.
Got anyone in mind?
Who famously said, “Sit down my son, we don’t reeeeead any of the bills,” to Michael Moore in Farenheit 9/11?
Michael Moore is a circus animal thats all I know.
Conyers?
“Nothing they do should affect who we are.”
Amen to that monty. They are not the ones who determine how we act, we determine how we act.
I don’t think Pelosi/Reid get high marks from very many Democrats.
And I also don’t think very many Democrats would argue that the Congressional Democrats were spinless when it came to standing up to the Bush Administration.
SgtP, I think it gets clearer and clearer who made all the decisions and it wasn’t “the decider”.
Vomit wins a virtual beer.

“An offer US banks could not refuse
By Francesco Guerrera in New York
Published: May 15 2009 18:39 | Last updated: May 15 2009 18:39
It was an offer the banking titans gathered in Washington could not refuse.
As the chief executives of the nine biggest financial groups in the US, including Citigroup, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs, sat in a conference room of the Treasury building last October, the message was loud and clear.
After outlining the government’s plan to purchase up to $250bn in the preferred stock of banks, Hank Paulson, then-US Treasury secretary, was quick to emphasise that dissenters would not be tolerated.
“We don’t believe it is tenable to opt out,†he told the bank executives, according to official documents released this week. His comments pre-empted opposition from banks such as JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo that regarded themselves as healthy enough not to need government money. “If a capital infusion is not appealing, you should be aware that your regulator will require it in any circumstance.â€
The strategy devised by Mr Paulson – a former Goldman chief who had known many of the executives in that room for years – was simple: all nine institutions had to take the money to minimise the stigma that came with a government bail-out.
A month earlier, Mr Paulson had used similarly forthright tactics to “persuade†BofA and Merrill Lynch to merge and, before the end of the year, he would again have to call upon his tough streak to convince BofA not to walk away from that deal.
But in October, the matter was settled within hours.
The nine – Citi, BofA, JPMorgan, Wells, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, State Street and Bank of New York Mellon – all signed up for the federal aid with each chief executive filling in the blanks on the Treasury’s templates by scrawling his institution’s name and the amount it would receive.
That hastily-arranged meeting on October 13, when funds from the troubled asset relief programme (Tarp) were first earmarked for stakes in the country’s banks, was a milestone in the crisis, and maybe, US financial history.
The government’s direct intervention in some of the largest publicly-traded companies sparked fears of a “creeping nationalisation†and underlined just how troubled many of the banks were.
In the ensuing months, as public outrage at Wall Street’s “fat cats†mounted, Congress imposed draconian pay curbs and greater oversight on Tarp recipients, prompting many of them to scramble to repay the money. The events set in motion by that one-hour meeting will take years to unravel but the preparations for such a momentous event appeared to have been less than thorough.
The documents, obtained by the conservative advocacy group Judicial Watch under the Freedom of Information Act, offer a glimpse of the chaos.
As of the morning of the meeting, key staffers did not even known which banks were supposed to attend. “Can someone tell Michele Davis [Mr Paulson’s spokesperson], [Kevin] Fromer [the then head of legislative affairs] and me who the ‘Big Nine’ are?†James Wilkinson, Treasury’s chief of staff wrote to colleagues.
The logistics of the meeting were also troublesome. Early in the morning, Lew Kaden, a senior Citi executive, e-mailed Treasury officials to ask what the meeting was about. “If this is a briefing of industry group, I don’t think VP [Vikram Pandit, Citi’s chief executive] can go back to DC.†Mr Kaden was given no details other than to get his chief over to DC.
At least one executive appeared eager to meet with Mr Paulson. Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan’s chief, arrived at the building early, unsettling secret service agents trying to clear the area.

True the other day we were talking about TARP and its effects on the banking system during the worst aprt of the credit freeze and insuing crisis. Do you think there is any possibility that forcing healthy banks to take the TARP funds made the crisis worse? Worse in the sense that it undermined the credibility and the publics trust in institutions that were more than capable of withstanding the downturn without govt intervention? I think forcing the healthy banks to take TARP, might have removed some stigma from the ‘Zombies’ (how much is debateable) but it also needlessly stigmatized healthy banks and made the public believe the credit crisis was more far reaching than it actually was.
“I don’t think Pelosi/Reid get high marks from very many Democrats.”
Thus proving once again that it is much easier to be the minority party in Congress than it is to be the majority. The Dems have their big chance right now, and, as 6DJ likes to point out, all they seem to know is excess. It is appropriate to hold Pelosi/Reid accountable. It’s their watch.
Yeah, Conyers — love that guy.
DB, was US Bank also “stongly suggested” to take those funds as well? — the rationale being that a bank taking funds wouldn’t start a massive selloff of said bank. Now the healthy banks are getting burned…some of them even failed the “stress test”. The timing of this mess – between two administrations – couldn’t have been worse…except maybe for Hank Paulson, who made billions off it.
And I also don’t think very many Democrats would argue that the Congressional Democrats were spinless when it came to standing up to the Bush Administration.
I think many independents would argue that the Congressional Democrats were spineless.
All too often, when I challenge people to expain the Dem’s lack of action during the Bus years, especially from 2006 forward, the excuse is that Bush would have just vetoed any legislation.
Had Bush been known for using the veto pen, I might have agreed.
Either they’re spineless, or they were smart enough (or sleazy enough, given the fact that the main issues was our soldiers in harms way) to see the Republicans were digging themselves into the hole they’re in now.
USBank and TCF were both ‘Forced’ to participate and are in the process of paying back the funds. It was totally unnecessary for either to participate.
Making strong healthy banks look week to benefit the real culprits and Zombies was STUPID. The added FDIC insurance and govt guarantees through TARP would have solved the problem without making the ‘good’ banks play along.
Bus years should be Bush years.
I’m listening to the Dead right now.
Further–>>>
“I think many independents would argue that the Congressional Democrats were spineless.”
Okay, I wasn’t clear. What I meant was that not very many Democrats would disagree that they were spineless. There was alot of angst on the left that they weren’t standing up. The only one during that time was Howard Dean. That’s why his campaign took off. But we all know how that turned out.
Ahhhh, finally Budweiser time. Not even DFL Dora’s leftist spew can ruin that!
It’s been a long week.
Not even DFL Dora’s leftist spew can ruin that!
Congratulations, Dora.
You just passed the spine test.
D2,
I was afraid that you’d come back from school fully indoctrinated into the liberal way of life.
I’m glad to see you’ve resisted, the place gets a little dull without you.
“But that’s their problem. Nothing they do should affect who we are.”
No, they made it our problem too. No 9/11, no torture debate.
“That’s not to say we let whoever walk all over us. We need to respond as each situation requires.” But there are lines we should never cross-no matter what.
I’m trying to figure out where the line is. Doesn’t it have to be a moving target based on what “the situation requires”?
I’m thinking as long as you don’t reduce yourself to the level of your adversary, and only do what the situation requires, your doing all you can to keep from being walked all over.
“Nobody said it will be easy.”
When your adversary brings the dirt. Your going to get your hands dirty.
“D2,
I was afraid that you’d come back from school fully indoctrinated into the liberal way of life.
I’m glad to see you’ve resisted, the place gets a little dull without you.”
Yes, it is good that our resident closet homosexual extremist has returned.
Now .. if there were a way to get rid of Pelosi, Bachman, Reid, Kantor, Frank, that really tan congressman, Limbaugh, olberman, hannity, and a few others ..
maybe good common sense would rule.
And this healthcare thing with gov timmy .. this would be a very bad thing for many legitimate folks.
Heres the bottom line for me.
Just like McCarthy running around saying there are such and such number of communist here or there, Peliso and other public officials shouldn’t run around saying a government agency lied to them unless they can prove it.
Just like Murtha and this Marine thing in the end they where innocent.
These kinds of things happen because Politicians what to protect their @sses and get reelected.
This kind of stuff when it deals with foreign policy or the military needs to stop.

Tell that to the controller of the comment section of the Star Tribune who banned me.
I really don’t think saying the phrases:
“Liberal morons who elected our first Soci@list President”
OR
“Banking Queen Barney Frank” were ban worthy, but that’s why they say they banned me (in the reply e-mail).
We all know that they are simply getting a jump start on the Silence Rush Doctrine.
HAAA!!!!
That must drive that dog nutz.
Sorry Greg,
I thought Vomit made that comment.
I was in Boone North Carolina for my daughter’s college graduation which was fantastic (she was Magna Com Loudi)? GPA of 3.7+.
I also visited a Revolutionary War battle field on the border in South Carolina named Kings Mountain. About 1000 people were killed on this little hill (mountain) and not many people know about it.
It’s a great attraction if you’re ever in the Charlotte NC area.
“Was Clinton joking about Cheney shooting people? Do you think he ment he hopes Cheney will shoot some more republicans? These lefty eliminationist dog whistle coded jokes are getting out of hand.”
He means the threat of Cheney having his finger on the nucleur trigger is over.
By the way, King’s Mountain is very important because the American victory there was the turning point in the war against England.

That’s not an opinion that’s contrived nonsense.
Hey let the Grownups have a damn decent discussion here will Ya True, god almighty! ”
What kind of role model did you have for being a grownup Tiony?
Tiny at the age of reason: Dad, Why are we Democrates instead of Republicans?
Dad: Because Democrats are better hockey players.
Tiny: But the Russians have better hockey players than U.S. teams in the Olympics. Are you a communist?
Dad: Shut up!
When I grow up I’m going to be a Republican!
“Someday you and I have to get together for a beverage”
I’m not sure you could go along with the following rules:
1. You have to wear clothes.
2. The clothes have to cover your genitilia.
3. You cannot stare at my crotch.
4. You cannot try to touch me.
5. I don’t kiss dudes .. don’t try it.
6. You cannot have any weapons.
7. You cannot say soci@list.
“When I grow up I’m going to be a Republican!”
I grew up around 40 then. You just tend to not believe in that type of Robert Kennedy Fairytale nonsense when you grow up.
Doesn’t work, can’t work and hasn’t worked.
Plus this isn’t the democrat party I use to belong to. I think I’m right its when the 60′s hippy freaks all came of age ( 2001 or so they where all in that 55-65 range and those are the people that are running this country )
I haven’t read the news lately, but I’ve heard that there is a serious problem with fake ID Marcado’s in Minnesota, and that an illegal alien driver just killed a 4 year old girl.
Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

I’m sure Wolfowitz and some other key neocons actually believed that.
So Bushco lied to us for a higher purpose than cowboying the Middle East for the fun and profit of his private military contractor clients?
Your talking like the American people need to be lied to for their own good, ’cause they can’t handle the truth and must be tricked into doing “the right thing.”
For Godfather and country, right?
“I’m not sure you could go along with the following rules:”
Deal!
Say when and I’ll have my limo pick you up.
No really Greg, I would like to meet sometime. Seriously.
What the hell happened to Comrade Partisan? Is he still in Cuba?
“By the way, King’s Mountain is very important because the American victory there was the turning point in the war against England.”
There were lots of actions that were arguably the turning point in the American Revolution …one of the earliest won for us by Benedict Arnold.
What made the real difference besides, Washington’s Fabian tenacity, was the rare naval defeat of the British by French Admiral De’Grasse preventing the relief of Cornwallis at the siege of Yorktown.
“I grew up around 40 then. You just tend to not believe in that type of Robert Kennedy Fairytale nonsense when you grow up.”
Just me, but I think you’re ‘grown up’ when you realize that both parties are selling you some of that proverbial swampland.
Neither side has cornered common sense or reality for that matter.
D2, congrats on your daughter’s graduation.
And I’m glad you got to see the place where 18th-century progressive liberals fought back against the conservative British torries — it was a great victory for free speech and freedom of religion!
“I grew up around 40 then. You just tend to not believe in that type of Robert Kennedy Fairytale nonsense when you grow up.”
GWB never did believe in Robert Kennedy Fairytale nonsense either, yet he grew up even later than that.
And Phil Gramm wore sandals and affected hippie ways as a young academic.
Adlib,
One interesting point was that Ferguson who was the leader of the Brit’s at King’s Mountian had a clear shot at George Washington in a different battle. He was readdy to kill Washingtion as a sniper and had George in his sites, but after he turned away, Furguson could’t shoot a man in the back.
Gay Marriage
“Pelosi and other public officials shouldn’t run around saying a government agency lied to them unless they can prove it.”
The CIA wouldn’t lie to public officials unless it was part of an operation. Then it would be called “fieldcraft,” part of which is plausable deniability. I’m even sceptical that Obama’s current appointed head of CIA can penetrate all the misdirection involved here.
“Furguson could’t shoot a man in the back.”
Very Crickett of him. to the degree we haven’t hung on to our British cousin’s sense of fair play we are the poorer for it.
NC is cool. My family name (not adlib!)came to the New World in the late 1600′s and owned land in in tidewater NC. Direct ancestor came a little later in reduced circumstances during the early 1700′s.
LET THE MORON HAVE A VOICE!!!!!!!
It’s still his Constitutional right…
“The CIA wouldn’t lie to public officials unless it was part of an operation. Then it would be called “fieldcraft,†part of which is plausable deniability. I’m even sceptical that Obama’s current appointed head of CIA can penetrate all the misdirection involved here.”
Come on adlib, what’s Pelosi on now, her 3rd version of the story?
For God’s sake Panetta just threw her and under the bus, he’s not exactly a conservative hack.
I figured he’d be the guy to cover her.
Her time has come. And she kn-kn-knows it.
The liberal Star Tribune has already enacted it’s own version of the “Fairness Doctrine” and allows trashing of Congress Woman Michele Bachmann, but cuts cmmentors off for saying ” Banking Queen Barning Frank” which is mantioned daily on national radio.
No wonder the liberal Star Democrat Tribune is dropping subscriptions by the thousands. The illegal aliens and welkfare recipients who they cater to don’t typically buy or read newspapers.
“No wonder the liberal Star Democrat Tribune is dropping subscriptions by the thousands. The illegal aliens and welkfare recipients who they cater to don’t typically buy or read newspapers.”
Or, it can be read online.
Or, people are cutting expenses.
Or, people get their news elsewhere.
Or, coupons and advertisements can be gotten online.
But I suppose that’s just too reasonable to consider.
And D2, the biggest purveyor of trashing Bachman is herself…nobody else needs to say a word since she’s so darn capable of doing it all on her own.
“It’s still his Constitutional right… ”
Agreed … however, does he own the paper?
It’s their choice, good or bad, and it is their constitutional right as well?
Just as some national radio chooses to use ‘Banking Queen Barney Frank’, some others choose not to.
It’s all about the wordsmiths ..

Hey! I don’t appreciate being lumped in that group. Better than being lumped with D2 I guess…
What?
You dont like being part of a hip, smart, good-lookin’ group?
C’mon!
As for Dora,Tru, etc
It is truly painful to watch your parsing of semantics on minutia etc etc to try present some laughably insane defense of Pelosi. I mean it: reread your posts and even you will laugh!
Unlike Sarge, I like Cheney more and more in his unleashed form. He obviously knows “who knows what and when,” and the Obama AG just turned DOWN his request to release the intel documents (its “in a lawsuit,” you know
)
Gosh, our transparent admin turning down a chance to release. Huh!
And if you love great analysis, Kraut’s WaPo column yesterday on this topic was awesome.
I dont begrudge Pelosi her decisions in 2003, as Kraut points out, it was different back then: people had no idea then what might explode next, esp a loose nuke.
I just dont get the endless lying and posturing. It IS sadly funny theatre of the absurd.
And look, Dora has returned to defend this fustercluk leadership:
Dora:
Would crushing the skull of our terrorist prisoners, and the vacuuming out their brains be acceptable to our beloved lib folks?
Or is that cruel and unusual?
AND
With obama bombing the crap out of the Afghan civilians, where are the big war protests today/tomm? I am not seeing the local news cover them lately?
I am in a MARCHING mood! Where do I go to join my antiwar brethren?
We do get the government we deserve, a mere 20 months more of this cycle.
Enjoy, one and all!
Enjoy.
Was the motto, “hope for a change?”
GAWD, I am hoping……..
;o)
“It’s their choice, good or bad, and it is their constitutional right as well?”
Yep.
I just can’t believe that D2 hasn’t learned anything from GO.
So, Tiny, you around?
Hey DJ, if you pop in…Hi. You seem to be in rare form as of late. Got those red gloves on and swerving. Good for you.
Katherine’s new column starts next Sunday. I wonder if TA will return too?
Geez, I hope so CS. The “Big Snooze” definitely lost it’s charm quite a while ago.
Hey Tiny, got a question for you. You there?
The Biq Q is a blog run by liberals, for liberals, just like the comment section of the Star Democrat Tribune (which loves to ban conaervative thought).
“The Biq Q is a blog run by liberals…”
Ergo…”Big Snooze”.
Well okay then…Tiny, maybe I’ll check back later. Just wondering if you planned on going to Gopher State. No big deal. Just wondering.

“(which loves to ban conaervative thought)”
haha. Pretty sad when the best that “conservative thought” can do is call Barney Frank a “Banking Queen” and try to rename the Democratic Party the “Democrat Soc1alist Party”.
Read the terms of service. Your brand of “conservative thought” is apparently viewed as a personal attack in the comments section. Go figure, eh?
“I just can’t believe that D2 hasn’t learned anything from GO. ”
‘Learn’ is operative in this case.
“AW
Tiny is being fitted for a larger colostomy bag today. He wore the last one out by not emptying it untill he could burp and taste it.”
Does this mean he needs to get a 2 ton vs. the 1/4 ton pickup?
You’d think that spending that much money on fuel would make him start changing that thing more often ..
DFL Dora says,
“call Barney Frank a “Banking Queen†and try to rename the Democratic Party the “Democrat Soc1alist Partyâ€.”
Today’s Democrat Party has been taken over by Soci@lists and would be more accurately called the Democrat Soci@list Party.
Barney Frank is a main reason we are in this recession today and it’s a big mistake to give hime even more power. Also, the most experience he’s had with business is when his boyfriend ran a gay whore house from their apartment.
“Today’s Democrat Party has been taken over by Soci@lists and would be more accurately called the Democrat Soci@list Party.”
I’d disagree.
More precisely, there are two factions. One extreme and the other moderate.
The Republican party is the same. The Republican Fascist Party and a more moderate faction.
The extreme sides of both parties seem to be mostly engrossed with social issues and tend to make fiscal issues more ‘social’ in nature making any kind of moderation or common goal virtually impossible.
The moderate factions of both parties are more inclined to find resolution.
The public is looking for the moderate factions more and more while dismissing those extremists from both parties as nutcases.
Barney Frank is no help to our current recession, but far from the main reason….VERY far. There’s multiple players and multiple reasons equally shared amongst both parties however, it’s safe to say that the extreme factions are probably more culpable than those practicing moderate politics.
D2, you seem very, very familiar with that gay whore house …
almost obsessed with it.
“More precisely, there are two factions. One extreme and the other moderate.”
More like One Soci@list, the other very liberal to the point where moderates like Joe Leiberman are no longer welcome there.
The Republican Party on the other hand has shifted more to the left which has hurt them. Some are even playing along with the “Globull Warming” hoax. If enough people fall for this, Cap and Trade will devistate our economy while allowing the biggest polluters like Communist China do business as usual.
And Greg, at least I didn’t have a frequent visitor card to Mr. and Mr. Frank’s establishment like you did.
(Just kidding Greg…)
OK, first things first.. Welcome back AW!!! You don’t chime in much anymore! Yeah, it’s been a pretty busy week. I’m picking up some hours at work, so that’s good (financially) and not good (socially). How’ve you been? How’s your gorgeous daughter?
I guess a welcome back is also in order for Dora! Welcome back Dora! You haven’t been around since I called you out for that blatant lie you told and then couldn’t provide any evidence for! We sure miss you spreading misinformation on the blog!
I honestly couldn’t believe that Dora and True were sticking up for Pelosi. I mean, I expected a little denial, but their comments are just preposterous. Mark, I’d just give it up. There’s no hope. Pelosi is their queen, Obama their king. Biden is the gay little prince.
“You haven’t been around since I called you out for that blatant lie ”
Still delusional as ever I see DJ.
Sticking up for Pelosi. Oh that’s right, if you don’t call her a liar that means you’re sticking up for her.
You and your screeds are about as bad as DTSI-bot.

DJ, you mean to tell me you never looked up that video on Countdown about Cavuto lying about the numbers at that tea party and you’re sticking to saying I lied about it?
Well, unless you have evidence absolutely proving Pelosi is a liar, then it’s only your opinion. There are others backing her up too. Of course, facts don’t seem to make any difference to you as evidenced by your delusional belief about me making that up about Cavuto.
So if I’m as bad as Pelosi because I supposedly made up what I said about Cavuto and since there is evidence to back up what I said then that means you’re wrong about me so your belief about Pelosi must be just as misguided as your belief about me.
DJ, you mean to tell me you never looked up that video on Countdown about Cavuto lying about the numbers at that tea party and you’re sticking to saying I lied about it?
Nope. Never looked it up. Like I’ve said a million times. Prove it. Until you can, YOU. ARE. A. LIAR.
Well, unless you have evidence absolutely proving Pelosi is a liar, then it’s only your opinion
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has been scrambling to counter Republican charges that she was aware of – and did not object to – the use of specific enhanced interrogation techniques by the CIA on suspected terrorist detainees. Pelosi said last week that while she was present at CIA briefings on the interrogations, she was not told that techniques such as waterboarding were in use.
Now, however, intelligence documents have come to light which show that Pelosi has been lying about her knowledge of the use of enhanced interogation techniques. According to records of the briefings submitted to, Pelosi was informed as early as September 2002 that waterboarding was being used on high-value detainees.
It’s not my opinion.

Liar.
By the way, you like how I put the link in there? You know why I did that? Because I made a claim, and it is my responsibility to back that claim up. You don’t make a claim and then tell the other person to prove your point for you. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
Liar.
How can the libs pick on Michele Bachmann when they are led by San Fran Nancy Pelosi?. This looney is not only a liar, but she’s a “Globull Warming” hypocrite for pushing Cap and Trade taxation while thinking she is too good to fly commercial like everyone else in Congress. No wonder the democrat controlled Congress has record low approval ratings.
“How can the libs pick on Michele Bachmann ….”
It’s not just ‘libs’.
And nobody picks on her .. they just laugh at her.
This is what happens to nutcases.
crap, the blog ate my post. probably because it had two links in it.
First one.
DJ, you are still acting like an @sshole by insisting that I’m lying just because I didn’t provide the link.
The Coundown video is embedded. The Cavuto part starts at 1:59.
As for Pelosi and the briefing, here’s the actual document in question. http://tinyurl.com/rbgfxr.
It has Pelosi on there when she says but it does not conclusively show she was informed waterboarding was being used which is what Republicans are saying she is lying about even though it is mentioned specifically in later briefings.
It does not prove she’s lying when she said she was told that it might be used in the future and that it would be legal.
And even when it says later waterboarding was discussed it really doesn’t give specifics about what was discussed.
You’re as bad as DTSI-bot just believing what you read on the internet without seeing the original source.
idiot.
“You don’t make a claim and then tell the other person to prove your point”
I wasn’t telling you to prove my point. I told you where I saw it and that you could google up the link yourself which you flatly refused to do.
Instead you made an @ss out of yourself by just choosing to believe I lied and insisting that you would continue to call me a liar instead of finding the readily available link yourself.
Geez, you were just burning to get back into it as soon as I posted again, eh? How did you contain yourself while I was away?
“The Republican Party on the other hand has shifted more to the left which has hurt them. Some are even playing along with the “Globull Warming†hoax. Perhaps some in the Republican party have decided that being an extremist isn’t good for their career or for the country? Extremism doesn’t get us anywhere and denies the true meaning of our constitution .. and that goes for both ends of the spectrum. The country wasn’t made to be ruled by a singular thought other than freedom from class rule.
Will C&T destroy our economy? or will it allow for additional economic strength and potentially less dependency from other energy providing countries?
There’s nothing to say whether it will or will not work .. nada. You can look at much speculation, and some may claim ‘common sense’ is the determining factor for it’s demise.
However, who’s to say that if we don’t find alternatives and reduce dependency we’ll find our demise regardless?
As for a concern for our environment, well, there are extremists no doubt and scientific falacies supporting both sides of the argument but .. in the long run .. wouldn’t it just be using common sense to take care of where we live?
Perhaps that’s what many people are truly believing.
Hahaha!! You really have your panties in a bunch, huh Dora?
That’s your response? Pathetic. In over your head once again.
Dora. I just finished watching the Preakness and I have to get ready for work. I’ll get back to you sometime when I have more time.
Get over yourself.
Don’t bother. I’m not at all interested in your opinions.
“Perhaps some in the Republican party have decided that being an extremist isn’t good for their career”
Good point! Liberal RINO Arlan Spector jumped over to the Democrat Soci@list Party mainly because he knew his career was over if he didn’t. He was only thinking of himself, and I’m glad he’s finally out of the party.
“Get over yourself.”
“I’m not at all interested in your opinions.”
Love is in the air…….
Hey Dora, what ever happened to Comrade Partisan? You two seem pretty close.
Greg,
My guess is that more people agree with Michele Bachmann’s votes over radical Keith Hakim Ellison (DFL). He’s the one who should be picked on as well as Queen Pelosi.
“He’s the one who should be picked on as well as Queen Pelosi.”
“picked on”
What are you 7?
CS,
You have to admit that the left LOVES to attack women and minorities who dare to be conservative. Michele Bachmann is probably the best representative Minnesota has in Washington, and the left’s attempt to destroy her is only hurting America.
“You have to admit that the left LOVES to attack women and minorities who dare to be conservative.”
No, I do not.
“Good point! Liberal RINO Arlan Spector jumped over to the Democrat Soci@list Party mainly because he knew his career was over if he didn’t. He was only thinking of himself, and I’m glad he’s finally out of the party.”
So if folks are separating themselves from that party/distinction .. then perhaps that’s not really the will of the people that the party is preaching?
People do NOT like extremism at all. For one reason or another the message coming from the R’s seems to sound more extreme to the population than that of the D’s .. thus the most recent election results.
Just me, but I’m seeing a definite split in both parties where factions are moving in a moderate direction. And quite frankly, I hope it continues.
There are some that will stick with extreme views, but I think they’ll be pushed to the side in hopes that a balance will exist at some point that serves all.
You’ll argue that BO got there with cultural based votes, but he didn’t come off as extreme and that apealed to many voters.
“You’ll argue that BO got there with cultural based votes, but he didn’t come off as extreme and that apealed to many voters.”
It would be nice if he’d governed that way.
Not that I’m surprised.
“You’ll argue that BO got there with cultural based votes, but he didn’t come off as extreme and that apealed to many voters.”
Barack Hussein Obama was the most LIBERAL member of the Senate in his 100 or so days in office. He was even more liberal than admitted Soci@list Bernie Sanders. How can BO not come off as extreme unless you’re an idiot? (which most Obama voters are).
I have to give him credit for doing the right thing and keeping many of Bush’s policies after realizing he was right. He’s pissing off many fellow Soci@lists though.
“Dora. I just finished watching the Preakness”
I’d rather watch Babe Winkelman. I like the part where the old lady is cookin’ something up in the kitchen(My,My). Sometimes I tape that part and play it back in slow motion. But thats kind of personal. Maybe to personal for this blog.
Speaking of idiotic Obama voters, this is a classic. I really think people need tp pass an IQ test in order to step into the voting booth:
Rare May snow in Saudi Arabia:
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/05/12/snow-in-saudi-arabia-in-may/
More proof of “Globull Warming”!
d2si states: “You have to admit that the left LOVES to attack women and minorities who dare to be conservative.”
You continue to state the truth d2si. Whether it be Michele, Gov. Palin, Katherine Harris or lately Miss California, Carrie Prejaean. The great thing about conservative women is that they are so good looking. Just look at the list above. The best the libs can do is Hillary Clinton and Perez Hilton.
God bless Carrie Prjeaean!
And one more thing D2Si, you have to admit that even Muslim men treat women better than the lib men do. Look at how the libs have hated the conservative women above and tell me it isn’t true.
Forced to wear a hijab or forced to think a certain way. It is all hatred toward women.
“Forced to wear a hijab or forced to think a certain way. It is all hatred toward women.”
In Bachman’s case it’s simply forced to think ..
plain and simple.
You and your comrade/lover are so engrossed in ideology that you can’t think clearly.
She’s repeatedly made herself look foolish and made comments that are just plain stupid ..
her most recent blurb regarding the swine flu and a probable conspiracy was classic example.
That’s NOT a representation of this state’s population .. just a representation of nutcases.

Come on. TheStrib is just informing commuters who’re looking forward to the Northstar corridor light rail system who it is that’s preventing it. That’s news, Where else would they read about it? In “Ripley’s Believe it or Not?”
Is it being too liberal not to realize that constituency service isn’t why Bachmann went to Washington?
The Republican Resistance needs a front person who can libel the Obama Administration with impunity and then plead insanity whenever she goes too far. Her constituents would be the ones to suffer from any pushback. Deservedly so if they re-elect her again.
“The Biq Q is a blog run by liberals, for liberals, just like the comment section of the Star Democrat Tribune (which loves to ban conservative thought).”
Maybe in terms of original thought. But if you’re going by the number of words keyed on the BQ blog in support of reactionary cliches, prejudiced stereotypes, homophobia, and the license to say just about anything and everything it’s about a draw. I’m not running this blog. For all I know your are.

its a world of hopes, its a world of fear
theres so much that we share

It’s kind of hard to occupy a region for the long term, where you consider the culture of the indigeneous people to be barbarous, without taking some kind of position on human rights.
Our very presence may be taken as an insult to regions that consider our own “culture” barbaric. But if our human rights stance is consistent with the way (we) foreigners treat each other it will be influential and may be emulated.
Why do those strange serial thread disasters only happen to GO? How’d you do that, GO? Never seen it before, anywhere.
SgtP homes in on the crucial point lost amid the Repubs’ new PelosiGate: that intell insiders have revealed that the Cheney Torture Regime’s main goal was to obtain “evidence” of a (knowingly false) “link” between Saddam and al qaeda.
In others words, Bushco tortured people (against the law, BTW, since many here seem not to know or care) in order to “justify” Cheney’s war of aggression to liberate Iraq’s oil.
Monstrous.
And the corporate press instead goes 24/7 on the Repub-generate game of “What Dem knew knew what when?!” Typical. No matter what party controls the gub’mint, the corporate press plays the conservative Repub tune.
And none of the BQ “moderates” seem willing to respond to Dora’s point—since there is so much factual disagreement over “who knew what when” about the Bushco Torture Regime, why can’t both parties agree to create a federal truth commission to look into all aspects of the Bushco Torture Regime?
Who advocated for it, who developed it, what its actual goals were, when it decided to torture, who was tortured, what was learned, and what Congress members knew what when about the Bushco Torture Regime?
Seems pretty reasonable. Who disagrees with investigating how and why America became a Torturing Nation?
And here we have an actual post on the demonic ACORN and our little ACORN gathering squirrel CNC has not a word to say about it? WTF?
Have you gorged yourself on so many ACORN-idiot stories that even YOU are sick of ‘em, CNC? Or is spreading Pelosi-Gate more important than even ACORN?!
Finally, how about a Congressional resolution calling for a special prosecutor to be appointed with jurisdiction over the entire Bushco Torture Regime and all who “participated” in it in any way?
Who do you think would be more terrified of that, Pelosi or Cheney? ACORN Cash, I’m sure you would agree with that approach since you cut n’ pasted the conspiracy statute…..
Create a Truth Commision and ask for a special prosecutor—let the chips fall where they may. Do it, Dems. Then we’ll see the REAL Repubs and what their Pelosi-Gate game is all about.
One more thing: Congrats to your daughter as well, 2D. She has all of our BQ best wishes, I’m sure.
Good work visiting King’s Mountain, too. But whatever they told you there, the decisive engagement of the Revolutionary War is surely the surrounding and capture of Gen. Bourgogne’s Army at Saratoga, NY, which forever broke the back of the British Army in the colonies.
And as adlib said, the failure of the British navy to break the French naval blockage of Yorktown doomed Cornwallis’s army to eventual surrender and ended the last British attempt to retain control over any of their American colonies.
But you have to remember, 2D, that had a “conservative” like you been alive during those times, your boot-licking authoritarian, tradition-bound mind and personality would surely have destined you to be a monarchy-supporting tory, cheering on every defeat of the hated “radical” rebels, and searching for every news account of how your beloved king’s forces tortured American prisoners and torched law-breakin’ rebel homes and properties.
Tory: that’s the “team” today’s “conservatives” would have been on, 1775-81.
GAWD, even Parth is left to feign that all is well in our beloved Dem-lead Wahington.
Of course, he is the same Parth who argued that a 51-49 majority doesnt give a party, “control.”
Hey Parth, we are all for a truth squad for the banking crisis, the “torture” debate, SS and Medicare reform etc etc.
ALL OF IT. TRUTH SQUADS, WHERE ARE U?
And guess what, your beloved party has total control. 100% control to set up any commission they want.
Parth has even thrown down the gauntlet,
“DO IT DEMS.”
Hint to Parth:
they dont want to do it, because they will continue to look like even bigger morons.
YAWN.
Let me know when the Dem dominated Congress gets the truth squads rolling.
Panetta throws Pelosi an anchor, and Parth thinks Dora’s laughable assertions have “merit.”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
Parth’s return is started by absolute drivel, who’d a thunk it?
And Dora still wont answer:
DORA, DORA, HELLO? HELLO?
Where can brother Parth and I go to march on the Afghan surge and the indiscriminate bombing of its civilians?
And crushing a terrorist skull and sucking out the bloody brains, is that ok with sister Dora? See, I would consider that “torture,”, but the people feigning outrage over waterboarding seem to have no problems with the skull crushing/brain sucking.
Obama will hear from his detractors on that today at Notre Dame.
What say sister Dora?
Oh, I don’t think that we need more than one big commission right now, 6DJ—a Torture Commission.
And yep, the ball is in the Dems’ court, as I said. Glad to see you agree on a torture commission, perhaps you can call your Darlin’ Michele’s DC office and express your support?
Assuming you didn’t just have a stroke yukkin’ it up…..it’s good you’re so easily amused, of course!
parthian, have you run across this site? http://tinyurl.com/2etnkl. She digs into the memos, stories, wording used to pull the disparate pieces together. She’s very interesting.
Ha-ha, great sophist game playing, 6DJ!
You would have had a bright future in the Bushco Torture Regime had it continued, but I don’t think your “method” would have generated (even false) confessions from the crushed-skull bloody-brained terra-rist!
Is prolonging the life of the terminally ill elderly “torture”, too?
6 Dimwit Jim, you can stick your strawmen where the sun don’t shine.
Yeah, I’ve read emptywheel, Dora, she’s great and just won a major journalism award, too.
I’m not really following every turn of this Goss/Pelosi He said/She said feud so far. But given the disputed versions, it’s clear that objective minds will have to look at the documents and evidence to create the timeline and what was supposedly said.
Bob Graham just supported Pelosi’s version and he was chair of the Senate Intell Committee, so I’ll believe him.
And CheneyBushco has no record of honesty and transparency whatsoever, so how anyone with a shred of brainpower could think that (any) Congress leader on the intell committees was adequately or accurately briefed on such issues is beyond me, but the main goal of this Repub-generated controversy is certainly not finding the “truth”—it NEVER is about that for them.
Ahh, poor Dora.
War protests are now strawmen? Gosh, are war protests simply a political weapon of the left? Who knew?
Dora suffers from terminal stupidity, sorry Dora, can’t help you with that. Shoulda studied harder in school……..
Yes, Parth, and you let me know when that Truth Commision gets rolling!
Both Fox New Sunday and Meet the Press showed the exact same–Pelosi stammering like Dora–news clip, “I’ve, I’ve lost my page… wait, oh they are out of order….”
You know, she cant speak unless it’s from a prepared script, sorta like, who else?
Yes, parth, I will laugh at these clowns, again, and again, and again…..
Sophist? let’s see how it goes at Notre Dame today……
More abortion sophists or more torture sophists
;o)
Parth and his deep expose:
And CheneyBushco has no record of honesty and transparency whatsoever, so how anyone with a shred of brainpower could think that (any) Congress leader on the intell committees was adequately or accurately briefed on such issues is beyond me, but the main goal of this Repub-generated controversy is certainly not finding the “truthâ€â€”it NEVER is about that for them.
Really?
Cheney just had a request for documents to be released, and it WAS DENIED by your beloved politicos. How odd?
And for Pelosi,
As was on this mornings news shows, the briefings arent BS meetings where they casually discuss things.
The CIA brings in i.e.Powerpoint type briefings,
so again, just release the meeting notes. Truth commission, where are you?
It was Panetta throwing the anchor, not Repubs. He has seen the meeting notes, so why can’t all of us?
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAAHHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA
PARTH–see me laugh–
HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHHAHAH
“but the people feigning outrage over waterboarding seem to have no problems with the skull crushing/brain sucking”
6DJ, better to have the FAS infants die in the premie wards when Governor Dearth shuts off GAMC and hospitals have to economize some way or else close down?
It’s good to see Jim yukking it up. Laughter is good for the soul, although laughing with friends is probably better than laughing at people, as far as that goes. But then Jim does tend to talk down to people, projections of insecurities no doubt, and there’s nothing all that unusual in that. We all have our faults.
By the way, Jim, I lean to the liberal side on many things, but one of them isn’t abortion. That, in my book, is premeditated murder. And I think torture is just plain wrong. I’m not “feigning” outrage, I am outraged. We need to find out who ORDERED it and who DID it, expose these creeps to the full light of day. This is ‘way more important than who knew what was going on and when. That’s playing politics. Kinda like the aftermath of WWII, ya know, at Nuremburg. Torture is a crime against humanity. Time to make a stand, are ya for it or against it.
That’s the way I feel about that particular issue. There’s lotsa folks like me, people that lean to one side or the other on the issues of the day. People in the middle, people who are difficult for the narrow minded to pigeonhole. Politics has become a team sport for some in this country-cheering for your side just because it’s your side. I think this 2 team model is leaving more and more people on the sidelines, wondering just whose “game” this is-and whose it’s supposed to be.
“One more thing: Congrats to your daughter as well, 2D. She has all of our BQ best wishes, I’m sure.”
Thanks for the nice comments Partisan, and welcome back.
Kings Mountain was very interesting. The stories were also kind of disturbing such as when the hill was turned into a shallow graveyard for a couple hundred soldiers who were killed, and wolves took it over feeding on the bodies.
Tory: that’s the “team†today’s “conservatives†would have been on, 1775-81.
Yes imagine all the rhetorical exchanges on the BQ blog translated into actual violence between former neighbors, all of which was common in the colonies in those days – especially in the southern theatre of conflict.
Drop a dime on a partisan in the next farmstead and then, as a good patriot, help yourself to eveything that hanged rebel owned.. That was some of what the young Andrew Jackson witnessed. He’d seen it all before even reaching puberty. All of that outrage came back on the Brits at the Battle of New Orleans. Ticking off the founder of the Democratic Party was not advisable.
But adlib,
I don’t consider Karl Marx a Patriot, and his idiology seems to be a model for today’s Democrat Soci@list Party.
“I don’t consider Karl Marx a Patriot, and his idiology seems to be a model for today’s Democrat Soci@list Party”
D2, Karl Marx was no more a revolutionary than you are, or a German patriot either for that matter. He was an economic theorist ho died in England, the land where he predicted his theoretical revolution would occur.
I much prefer the writings of native Minnesotan Thorstein Veblen, such as his Theory of the Leisure Class,to standard Marxism when it comes to understanding the American landscape.
Can you point to any examples from Marx’s Das Kapital that “seem” to be a model for today’s Democratic Soci@alst Party?
“Can you point to any examples from Marx’s Das Kapital that “seem†to be a model for today’s Democratic Soci@alst Party?”
I can tell you that Soci@lism/Communism isn’t what made America the greatest country on earth, and definately isn’t what our Founding Fathers had in mind. I think the direction Obama is trying to take us is the wrong path. As Ronald Reagan wisely said, “Government isn’t the solution to our problems, Government IS the problem.”
“Government isn’t the solution to our problems, Government IS the problem.â€
Raygun didn’t just say it, he proved it once he got elected. He presided over the most corrupt administration in U.S. history and turned our nation into a state sponsor of terrorism. Central America is still dealing with the horrors that the Reagan administration inflicted upon that region.
“As Ronald Reagan wisely said, “Government isn’t the solution to our problems, Government IS the problem.â€
I’m sure you understand those words as well as Timothy McVay did. And if neither you nor RR would claim responsibility for Timothy McVay’s acts I would agree. You’re irresponsible.
“I don’t consider Karl Marx a Patriot, and his idiology seems to be a model for today’s Democrat Soci@list Party. ”
His ideas were revolutionary at the time… regardless of how you feel about them.
And D2, if you knew ANYTHING about Marx other than his name, you’d realize the conservative extremist fringe you represent is more in line with Marx social ideology.
That would take some studying .. err .. HONEST studying on your part to understand.
“Raygun didn’t just say it, he proved it once he got elected. He presided over the most corrupt administration in U.S. history and turned our nation into a state sponsor of terrorism. Central America is still dealing with the horrors that the Reagan administration inflicted upon that region.”
No one puts the “Hype” in Hyperbole like Richard Cranium.
parth states: “And here we have an actual post on the demonic ACORN and our little ACORN gathering squirrel CNC has not a word to say about it? WTF?
Have you gorged yourself on so many ACORN-idiot stories that even YOU are sick of ‘em, CNC? Or is spreading Pelosi-Gate more important than even ACORN?! ”
I will get back to ACORN on my next post parth. Thanks for the reminder.
In the meantime, isn’t she guilty of treason based on your views of waterboarding as torture? She has finally gotten around to admitting she knew about waterboarding. One has to wonder were all the libs are who bash Michele Bachmann on every one of here statements. Her erratic behavior at her news conference should be raising howls of indignation if our MSM wasn’t biased. VP Cheney and Pres. Bush at least have the integrity and honesty to stand behind their beliefs.
And for Nancy, even thenonpartisan website PolitiFact.com gave Pelosi an unambiguous “false” on its Truth-O-Meter: “At PolitiFact, we normally would be reluctant to make a Truth-O-Meter ruling in a he-said, she-said situation, but in this case, the evidence goes beyond the competing accounts from Pelosi and Goss. We are persuaded by the CIA timeline, which the agency says is based on ‘an extensive review of (the
CIA’s) electronic and hardcopy files.’”
Time for the “Whole Truth Squad” with our first witness under oath: Nancy Pelosi.
“I can tell you that Soci@lism/Communism isn’t what made America the greatest country on earth, and definately isn’t what our Founding Fathers had in mind.”
I couldn’t agree more however, your own ideology incorporates exclusion which was most definately in the minds of those creating this coutnry either.
“I think the direction Obama is trying to take us is the wrong path. As Ronald Reagan wisely said, “Government isn’t the solution to our problems, Government IS the problem.—
So what direction do you presume BO is trying to take us and why?
How is this direction you’re implying purely soci@list?
And why would he be doing it?
Do you think that any of the programs and/or philosphies he’s incorporating have anything to do with our current economic state and are not intended to be long term?
If Pelosi believes that waterboarding was torture and she admits now that she did know about it, she is guilty under Section 2340A where a person who conspires to torture is no different than the actual torturer.
Come on libs – you should be outraged!
IF not, it will show your torture outrage is nothing than partisan BDS antics.
“I couldn’t agree more however, your own ideology incorporates exclusion which was most definately in the minds of those creating this coutnry either”
S/B
I couldn’t agree more however, your own ideology incorporates exclusion which was most definately NOT in the minds of those creating this coutnry.
The NY Times Stephanie Strom was investigating ACORN prior to the November election. She had an ex-ACORN employee as her source that told her of “constant contact” between ACORN’s Project Vote and the Obama and Clinton campaigns.
‘On Sept. 7, Moncrief wrote to Strom that she had donor lists from the campaigns of Obama and Hillary Clinton and that there had been “constant contact” between the campaigns and Project Vote, an Acorn affiliate whose tax-exempt status forbids it to engage in partisan politics. Moncrief said she had withheld that information earlier but was disclosing it now that the conservative columnist Michelle Malkin was “all over it.”‘
“I am sorry,” Strom wrote, “but I believe in Obama and did not want to help the Republicans.”
Isn’t it against the law for such coordination to take place? We need a “Congressional Truth Squad” to expose the lib campaigns and ACORN! Ms. Pelosi will be outraged! Nah. And you won’t hear it from the MSM either.
God bless Michelle Malkin for exposing the truth!
Well, let’s see, Cash.
Pelosi didn’t waterboard anyone. She didn’t advocate waterboarding or claim it was “legal”. She wasn’t the chair of any House committee—she was in the minority. She didn’t plan, coordinate or carry out any of the Bushco Torture Regime. She didn’t lie and tell the country (repeatedly) “we don’t torture!”
Whenever she learned about Cheney’s waterboarding, it was after the fact. She wasn’t given any of the DOJ memos supposedly stating that Cheney’s Torture Regime wasn’t torture. No one was.
She wasn’t permitted to discuss whatever she “learned” from the CIA with anyone, especially with any lawyers. She was (supposedly) “told” things months after the fact, especially the waterboarding. So much for “oversight” and “full briefing”…
So good luck with the “treason” charge. Pelosi will be pretty far down the line, with a whole lotta Bushco Repub Torture Boys way ahead of her.
In the grand scheme of the Bushco Torture Regime, she’s a small fish—in the minority, no actual power, told after the fact, bound by law to keep her mouth shut. But she’s all you Repubs have, so of course the corporate press is acting like she came up with the whole Torture Scheme.
Glad to see you support a Torture Commission to get to the bottom of things, though. Please call your Darlin’ Michele’s office…..
It’s also nice to see you admitting (finally) that waterboarding is indeed “torture” and illegal, Cash.
That’s some massive “progress” for a dimwit like you!
Even if it is the result of mindless partisanship and gorging on Repub Talking Points, it’s progress nevertheless! We’re pround of you!
Personally, I wish that the whole torture questioning, bashing etc. would just stop.
It’s no longer to be used and that should be the end.
I don’t like that it was used, but the more it’s brought up to try and burn those that employed and/or ordered it and/or knew of it, the more it is used by our enemies to make us seem like hypocrites …
It’s done and over. Let’s not do it again.
“She didn’t lie and tell the country (repeatedly) “we don’t torture!â€
She just lied about what she knew and when she knew it.
Why would she do that?
By the end of Raygun’s term, 138 administration officials had been convicted, had been indicted, or had been the subject of official investigations for official misconduct and/or criminal violations. In terms of number of officials involved, the record of his administration was the worst ever. How’s that for hyperbole. Oh yeah, and here’s Central America. The Historical Clarification Commission, an independent human rights body, estimated that the Guatemalan conflict claimed the lives of some 200,000 people with the most savage bloodletting occurring in the 1980s. Based on a review of about 20 percent of the dead, the panel blamed the army for 93 percent of the killings and leftist guerrillas for three percent. Four percent were listed as unresolved.
It’s done and over. Let’s not do it again.
The discussions have turned from moral, to political.
That’s a bigger problem, than the original problem.
“By the end of Raygun’s term, 138 administration officials had been convicted, had been indicted, or had been the subject of official investigations for official misconduct and/or criminal violations. In terms of number of officials involved, the record of his administration was the worst ever. How’s that for hyperbole.”
I do believe you’ve taken it to a new level.
You’re D2, turbocharged.
“That’s a bigger problem, than the original problem. ”
No kidding ..
“I do believe you’ve taken it to a new level.
You’re D2, turbocharged.”
Actually, I think he’s landed on the same moon…. but D2 lives on the other side.
I can’t wait for the war they’ll have to see who rules the planet.
Bushco’s defense: “We didn’t do it and furthermore, we’ll never do it again. Unless of course America has the hubris to afford another Republican regime anytime soon.”
Criminal behavior does need to be prosecuted if only for the deterrant effect. There’s currently nothing to prevent a new Republican administration from naming a major airport after W or Cheney at this point. All that’s needed is for the rest of us to stand by and let the RW noise machine throw out enough unanswered Big Lies to confuse the less steady elements of society and precipitate something truly ugly.
At that point might as well call in the UN to help us try to cure what ails the body politic, ’cause forget peaceful transfer of power and goodbye Democracy as we like to think of it.
I can’t wait for the war they’ll have to see who rules the planet.
I can.
You’ve just described what’s wrong with the world.
Someone was telling me about a person they “loved to hate” on TV.
I asked them if there was someone they “loved to hate” in their personal life.
“You’ve just described what’s wrong with the world.”
You’re probably right ..
they need their own moon….
of course, they kind of live in their own world anyway.
Maybe they just need to be ignored?
“Criminal behavior does need to be prosecuted if only for the deterrant effect.”
One last time.
Bush’s lawyers said it wasn’t “criminal behavior”. Obama’s say it is.
You’re just the fertilizer for the Banana’s
Maybe they just need to be ignored?
Never.
adlib says:
“but the people feigning outrage over waterboarding seem to have no problems with the skull crushing/brain suckingâ€
6DJ, better to have the FAS infants die in the premie wards when Governor Dearth shuts off GAMC and hospitals have to economize some way or else close down?
Jim says:
Huh? So you in favor of crushing skulls, or not? Helps me know how sincere your torture position “is.”
monty says:
It’s good to see Jim yukking it up. Laughter is good for the soul, although laughing with friends is probably better than laughing at people, as far as that goes. But then Jim does tend to talk down to people, projections of insecurities no doubt, and there’s nothing all that unusual in that. We all have our faults.
Jim says:
It isnt so much talking down to people rather than being amazed at the ability of some people to rationalize..
And how can one not laugh? Dora and Parth have basically created this alternate world Star Trek universe were Pelosi, a genius jedi, was fooled by the “dumbest” President of all time. Say it aint so.
Funny? Oh yes!
And Monty:
I respect an opinion like yours that abortion is bad and prisoner abuse is bad.
That is consistency. I salute your intellectual honesty and I do respect an opinion such as yours on this subject.
Yet, in a country with a million abortions, that also executes its own prisoners, why? is anybody surprised at the collective yawn of our society.
I love this debate, as it really brings abortion back into focus, as Obama learned today.
I would view waterboarding as abusive, but not torture. Ditto yelling, slamming, sleep deprivation, etc…..
BUT, I am also mildly prochoice:
I would get our doctors out of the ghoulish abortion business, only permitting lawyers to dispense the abortion pill to those at the proper gestation period, as documented by a doctor’s ultrasound.
I view torture as something involving lasting physical harm, cutting off fingers, shocks, etc.
I understand many feel differently, like yourself, but I will mock prochoicers endlessly who feign outrage on waterboarding. That combo is truly
schizoid.
Don’t bother. I’m not at all interested in your opinions.
Yes master. I’ve always been sooooo concerned about what you want.
I’ll reply tomorrow. I have the day off.
Don’t bother. I’m not at all interested in your opinions.
Yes master. I’ve always been sooooo concerned about what you want.
I’ll reply tomorrow. I have the day off.
Forced to wear a hijab or forced to think a certain way. It is all hatred toward women.
You realize plenty of women choose to where a hijab, right?
Neat. That was a “half-double-post”.
Hit “Submit Comment”, then “Esc”, then added something to my comment and submitted it again.
“Bush’s lawyers said it wasn’t “criminal behaviorâ€. Obama’s say it is.”
And one more time. As we now know, there were lawyers in Bush’s Administration that also said it was torture. In fact, we also know there was at least one memo that was written that said so that they attempted to destroy. And there is evidence that people in the FBI and military thought so as well.
That’s a p1ss poor excuse CS.
And there are plenty of lawyers outside of the government that say it was torture. Those Bush lawyers are getting ripped for their faulty reasoning.
6DJ writes:
“Yet, in a country with a million abortions, that also executes its own prisoners, why? is anybody surprised at the collective yawn of our society.”
Excellent point, Jim. Many americans seem to have a split personality concerning abortion, capital punishment and torture. Perhaps it’s a product of the progressive desensitization of our culture via the media, perhaps a remanent of our fundamentalist religious roots, I don’t know, but I do know it is illogical to be able to have an abortion, while at the same time be able prosecute someone for causing the death of a child in the womb.
And I salute you, Jim, for your thoughtful posts in response to mine. Upon rereading my post, I thought I might have gone too far with my “projecting insecurities” comment. We do not always agree, but I love this type of intellectual serve and volley as opposed to taunting and name calling.
“but I will mock prochoicers endlessly who feign outrage on waterboarding. That combo is truly schizoid.”
God you are a dimwit. Regardless of what your feelings about abortion are, it is legal. Waterboarding and other forms of torture is not.
And I’m waiting for you to endlessly mock the prolifers who are just fine with capital punishment and war.
Interestingly enough, I saw a poll that said those who are most religious are the ones who support torture. Now that is “truly schzoid” since Jesus taught the exact opposite.
“Now that is “truly schzoid†since Jesus taught the exact opposite.”
Didnt he also tech that non belivers would burn in hell for eternity?
“And I’m waiting for you to endlessly mock the prolifers who are just fine with capital punishment and war.”
I always loved this one. Dont youjust love the grey area?
Lawyers can write and argue anything, CS.
The question is whether the Bushco DOJ analysis was performed in good faith, with an objective, independent view of the existing precedents and interpretations regarding torture.
It wasn’t, the legal “analysis” was a sham—that’s what the recently released memos show, that’s what experts in this field have concluded, which is why no one was allowed to see them before now.
One isn’t allowed to torture because “the lawyers” said it wasn’t torture. The CIA was well aware that waterboarding is torture. Some “legal opinion” from lawyers can’t change that.
Nice use of Fox News “Banana Republic” talking points, though. A+
It’s great that ill-informed wingnuts like 6DJ and 2D “think” that waterboarding (and the rest of the torture procedures) wasn’t torture. That’s called an “uninformed opinion” and worth nothing.
The retired JAGs of all four service branches have declared unequivocally that waterboarding is torture under all applicable laws, which has been our position since the early 20th century.
The convening judge of Bush’s military commissions, Susan Crawford, recently ruled that “we tortured [a detainee]. His treatment met the legal definition of torture”. This detainee hadn’t even been in the CIA “program”, just the routine military torture program.
And the International Red Cross has declared in its recently released report on the Bushco Torture Regime that “the allegations of ill-treatment of the detainees indicate that, in many cases, the ill-treatment to which they were subjected while held in the CIA program, either singly or in combination, constituted torture”. They are responsible for interpreting the Convention Against Torture, which St Reagan signed into law, and the Geneva Conventions.
Their opinion matters; 6DJ’s most certainly does not.
Bushco violated both of these laws. We are a Torturing Nation and nothing can now be done to undo that.
All that is left is accountability and exposure, so that some future Repub administration doesn’t think they can torture without consequences. As adlib notes, that’s deterrence and it’s especially necessary here.
“Didnt he also tech that non belivers would burn in hell for eternity?”
What’s your point?
“I always loved this one. Dont you just love the grey area?”
monty is right. There is no purely consistent view toward these issues held by anyone. It’s ridiculous to “mock prochoicers” for being against waterboarding just like it’s ridiculous to mock prolifers for being for capital punishment. We all have our own line. Which is exactly why I am prochoice which does not mean I embrace abortion like the extremists on the other side want others to believe. I will decide for myself and others should decide for themselves. And I respect whatever decision they make even if I’d make a different decision. I do not want them or the government or lawyers or judges deciding what treatment or procedures I can and can’t have.
Monty:
I always respect intellectual honesty.
Your point on the murder charge of an unborn kid in MVA/crime is again an excellent point of our schizoid prochoice society. That actually drives my prolife wife nuts, BTW!
Conversely…..dimwit?
Just look at Dora’s latest comment:
A. Even the greatest of religous leaders view war as a moral thing in the right situation.
B. I will mock those in favor of capital punishment and prochoice, alas, when does the former appear on these pages?
C. The trouble with Polls, dear Dora, is who is taking them. Torture is a nebulous term, ie I DONT consider waterboarding torure, so your poll would then rape my position. Monty feels the opposite, so the poll fails on its basic premise.
I would bet a poll of religious people that:
are you in favor of electric shocks or cutting off fingers….
would have a far different result.
Why?
Waterboarding, like a DI screaming at a recruit, is a typical training activity for our troops.
And for the Doras, are you arguing that waterboarding should be outlawed as a training tool for our guys?
That is never discussed……
Does anyone know, does the current debate mean no more waterboarding training for our guys?
Alas parth, nobody really cares about your opinions, either. ;o)
Who heckled Obama yesterday?
the torture is evil crowd
or
the abortion is murder crowd
2010 is coming leftie dimwits, and your intellectual dishonesty will be up for voter review.
Dora still wont tell me and parth where to go protest war surging Obama……
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHHA
What a bunch of mumbo jumbo 6 Dimwit Jim. Every once in a while they’ll be a coherent thought but it’s few and far between.
“What’s your point?”
That Christianity supports torture for certain things, like being a non believer. Burning in hell for eternity sounds a lot worse than waterboarding. Torture is a big part of christian teaching. Its fundemental.
It’s a beggars life, said the Queen of Spain
But don’t tell it to a poor man
‘Cause he’s got to kill for every thrill
The best he can
Everywhere around me
I see jealousy and mayhem
Because no men have all their peace of mind
To carry them
Well I don’t really care
If it’s wrong or if it’s right
But until my ship comes in
I’ll live night by night
Night by Night
“The Dan”
I didn’t express MY opinion on torture, 6DJ, you can’t read.
I expressed the formal opinions of the four service JAGs, the convening military judge at Gitmo and the International Red Cross on what constitutes “torture”.
YOU are the bonehead who opined waterboarding isn’t torture. Why? Oh, because the great mind of 6DJ “thinks” it. The Wingnut Legal Brigade.
Are you kidding Deacon? That is the most idiotic thing you’ve ever said. A threat that you will burn in hell after your die for being a non believer is torture and it’s worse than being tortured by waterboarding when you’re alive?
I don’t remember ever hearing about torture in my Confirmation classes or Sunday School. I never heard that in a sermon. I’d say fear is a part of Christian teaching. Fearing eternal damnation to keep you on the straight and narrow. But never torture. To try to say that torture is part of Christian teaching is ludicrous. The lengths you torture apologists will go is simply amazing.
As I recall, many of these “fetal murder” statutes were advocated and supported by conservative legislators post Roe v Wade so that they could use them to argue that “the unborn” were people, too. It was yet another volley in the endless wingnut war against Roe.
So the Right injected this “schizoid” aspect into the law.
Our soldiers have to volunteer for special torture endurance training, I believe. That’s called “consent”. It may have to become mandatory training now, because our soldiers can now expect the same “enhanced” interrogations that we (and they) subjected our evildoing muslim detainees to.
That’s why the military lawyers tried to stop the various torture programs that von Rumsfeld and Cheney were so keen on.
Oh well, a soldier’s lot……
AHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Like most Liberals Dora, its obvious you were born with no sense of humor.
I think I agree with both Dora and Deacon, theologically speaking.
God will allow Satan to torture you for eternity if you don’t follow the divine rules, but humans are most definitely not to torture one another on earth. No exceptions.
It also seems like the medieval Tortures of Hell have become seriously downplayed by Christian theorists as the rationality express has rolled on over the centuries. One has to change marketing approaches over time, of course.
“I don’t remember ever hearing about torture in my Confirmation classes or Sunday School. I never heard that in a sermon. I’d say fear is a part of Christian teaching. Fearing eternal damnation to keep you on the straight and narrow. But never torture. To try to say that torture is part of Christian teaching is ludicrous.”
You dont consider being burned by a fire that doesnt consume for all eternity to be a type of torture?
“The lengths you torture apologists will go is simply amazing.”
Check the record Dora. Im not a republican, conservative or a democrat and I dont appologize for torture. Waterboarding IS torture and IS illegal. Its why Im holding Pelosi partially responsible for the cover up. Anyone involved in this torture scandal needs to be held to account. EVERYONE.
I’m conducting my life in manner that should allow me to enter Hell at the middle management level.
Better to be the burner than the burnee.
I’ll see you all there.
Do you know why angels only fly in circles?
Because in Heaven, there’s no left wing.
Oh so you were joking, eh? And that’s just so apparent from the written word without any kind of indication that it’s snark.
although, since you go on to reiterate I have to wonder how much you really are joking.
At any rate, parthian summarized it quite well.
“Oh so you were joking, eh? And that’s just so apparent from the written word without any kind of indication that it’s snark.”
Dora, everyone here knows you have no sense of humor. Its a well known fact. Try loosening your birkenstocks, it’ll make you feel better.
“At any rate, parthian summarized it quite well.’
So then you agree that part of Christianity’s fundementals is the torture and anguish of Hell as a motivator?
“although, since you go on to reiterate I have to wonder how much you really are joking.”
Its in the bible. The joke was that Christians are full of hypocricy.
What does God have to do with anything? Thats sh^t down there wasn’t torture or as least torture as defined in most peoples minds ( I see beatings and broken bones and lack of medical care and finally for some death ).
But see if you keep saying “torture” over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over people lose track that that sh^t wasn’t “torture”. Probably closer to acts that kids do to each other on the damn school bus then “torture”..
And I hope lunatics like Dora keep bring stuff up like this because when the next attack comes…the publics going to be looking for @sses to kick and the lefty BIG MOUTHS will be getting running scare.
This isn’t a game folks…real life.
That’s a p1ss poor excuse CS.
No, Dora it’s a fact. Doesn’t matter if there were some dissenters. They got the OLC’s.
“Lawyers can write and argue anything, CS.”
That’s my point Parth.
“Nice use of Fox News “Banana Republic†talking points, though. A+”
Sorry I don’t watch Fox news, If they’re copying me, give them the A+
“everyone here knows you have no sense of humor”
Oh yeah, that’s right, you’re one of the ones who thinks because I don’t find your inane nonsense humorous that I must not have a sense of humor. ::rolls eyes::
“So then you agree that part of Christianity’s fundementals is the torture and anguish of Hell as a motivator?”
What I said was: “I’d say fear is a part of Christian teaching. Fearing eternal damnation to keep you on the straight and narrow.”
Back to your false equivalencies about torture. We’re not talking about fearing for your eternal soul which is quite abstract, we are talking about actual acts inflicted by people.
“Doesn’t matter if there were some dissenters.”
Yes it does matter. If it didn’t matter they wouldn’t have tried to destroy the evidence of dissent.
“Probably closer to acts that kids do to each other on the damn school bus then “tortureâ€.”
What a load of cr@p.
As I’ve written above, tiny, objective lawyers and law professors who have gotten their hands on the Bushco DOJ torture memos and reviewed the procedures employed have concluded that the approved “procedures” constituted torture under the applicable treaties and laws. There’s no question about waterboading, yet you act like there is.
You ignore those facts, of course, because “the facts are LIB’RUL!” You can disagree, and endorse torture, but then you are simply pro-torture, just like the Nazis and Stalin’s NKVD boys. Great company.
You also are ignorant of the beatings inflicted by our military on detainees (especially in Iraq and Afghanistan) and the fact that dozens of detainees have died in our military’s custody under very suspicious circumstances.
Why have such strong opinions when you’re completely ignorant on a subject and completely dependent on the corporate cable “news” for your info? Are you proud to be ignorant, like Obama observed of wingnuts during the campaign?
“Thats sh^t down there wasn’t torture or as least torture as defined in most peoples minds ( I see beatings and broken bones and lack of medical care and finally for some death ).”
Or being forced to listen to Tori Amos’ music. That would be torture for me. I’d really rather have jumper cables on my nuts. It’s all relative to the person experiencing the torture, you know?
As for kids on the school bus, they’ve been known to do some diabolocial things…
Parth,
Can you define “Buscho”?
“Oh yeah, that’s right, you’re one of the ones who thinks because I don’t find your inane nonsense humorous that I must not have a sense of humor. ::rolls eyes::”
If you cant recognize my comedic genious thats your problem.
“Back to your false equivalencies about torture. We’re not talking about fearing for your eternal soul which is quite abstract, we are talking about actual acts inflicted by people.”
I joked that Christianity uses the fear of torture in hell to scare people when you were saying Jesus taught the opposite of trture. You said christians dont teach that. Thats all I said and was joking about so I dont see where this false equivelancy comes in.
I’m pretty sure that if you read through al the Gospels you won’t find any quote from Jesus describing an afterlife of torment for bad people.
That’s really only mentioned in the Book of Revelations. I hardly even regard that last chapter as legitimate scripture. Reads more like an account of someone’s bad acid trip. The Fundies sure do love it though, for some reason.
“That’s really only mentioned in the Book of Revelations.”
For some churches the “Hell Fire and Brimbstone” sermon is a classic.
“Or being forced to listen to Tori Amos’ music. That would be torture for me. I’d really rather have jumper cables on my nuts. It’s all relative to the person experiencing the torture, you know?”
There are several on this blog who’s eulogizing for an extended period could be considered torture …
If it extended past 2 hours it would cause permanent damage I’m sure.
Bushco = Bush Administration (2001-08)
(Apparently mostly run by Cheney)
Jim says:
Huh? So you in favor of crushing skulls, or not? Helps me know how sincere your torture position “is.â€
I don’t advocate casual abortion at any stage of foetal dvelopment. However right to lifers should put their money where their mouth is when it comes to kicking in extra to pay for their unfunded mandates requiring every unwanted child be born into a hellish childhood from which it must be rescued or attended by special needs programs and all the county welfare apparatus many of them would simultaneously vote to do away with.

Parth,
Can you define “Buscho
Can you say Daisy Cheney?
“I don’t advocate casual abortion at any stage of foetal dvelopment. ”
Amen, brother, except I fear the right-to-lifers already have it all figured out: cut the social programs and when the unwanted children grow up to be criminal psychopaths, execute them.
“So then you agree that part of Christianity’s fundementals is the torture and anguish of Hell as a motivator?”
Freud considers Christianity an illusion because it derives from human wish fulfillment. He doesn’t relish the prospect of its disappearance however because he fears it would unleash the baser instincts of the individual which are fundamentally opposed to “society.”
“Amen, brother, except I fear the right-to-lifers already have it all figured out: cut the social programs and when the unwanted children grow up to be criminal psychopaths, execute them.”
No, no, no ..
they send them all to Jesus camp where they’re taught to use automatic weapons and begin to operate as an army.
Geeez .. don’t ya know anything?
Hannity’s hero’s ..
“To try to say that torture is part of Christian teaching is ludicrous”
And to call the Inquisitive bastard Torquemada a Christian….would be a stretch? Papal edicts might be considered Christian teachings by some, because if you didn’t know the difference between orthodoxy and heresy you’d prefer not to find out the hard way (:-D)
Tonight ..
Hannity vs. Ventura ..
Battle of the Brain Trusts.
I think Mean Gene should be there ..
And to call the Inquisitive bastard Torquemada a Christian….would be a stretch? Papal edicts might be considered Christian teachings by some, because if you didn’t know the difference between orthodoxy and heresy you’d prefer not to find out the hard way (:-D)
Finding out the hard way was quite a stretch, too.
“Freud considers Christianity an illusion because it derives from human wish fulfillment.”
hmmm. I’m not sure I put much more stock in Freud than I do in the Book of Revelations, but I wonder if maybe belief in Hell stems from a wish to see one’s enemies suffer terribly…
I recall on Think Again when Katherine was beating the drum for torturing suspected terrorists. I wondered if what motivated her deep down was the belief that information gained from the torture was going to protect her loved ones, or if really she was just driven by the vindictive desire to infict pain on her enemies. Preventing the next 911 or exacting revenge for the last one? Maybe some of both. The problem with making torture a program and a policy is do it long enough and you inevitably wind up torturing someone who wasn’t actually your enemey (yet).
“I wondered if what motivated her deep down was the belief that information gained from the torture was going to protect her loved ones, or if really she was just driven by the vindictive desire to infict pain on her enemies. ”
Just my opinion, but the idea of most of those supporting torture in the US seems to be vindictive in nature (i.e., “Well they do it so why shouldn’t we?”).
Some say it works and others that it doesn’t .. personally, I think we’re better than that or at least should be.
Freedom comes with a price .. and maybe that price is the jealousy of others who don’t experience that freedom and declare themselves our enemies.
Listen most of the so called “torture” was done following 911. Now at this point in time you sure the hell can’t trust any info the CIA might have had..It is “Desperate” act to make sure you prevent another “likely” attack.
I can 100% quarantine you these practice will be used again if another attack happens here.
So don’t be too pretentious guys…and please take off you Dillrod hats and remember the situation.
Here’s the bottom line for me-
I wouldn’t trust the government to run my health care
I don’t trust the government to excecute the correct guilty person in a death penalty sentence.
Why should I expect them to safley torture the correct person with the info and get good data.
Also, look at the circus of accusations going around on the little bit of interrogations we did using questionable methods. This proves our country is not a mature enough democracy for torture. It should be outsourced to the professional grownups that know how to handle it.
Tiny writes:
“I can 100% quarantine you these practice will be used again if another attack happens here.”
Only if we continue to let amateurs and fanatics run things. Most professionals in the national security agencies know that information garnered with torture is unreliable. This is the position of the FBI. It was the position of the security advisor who wrote a memo on this subject for his boss, Former Secretary of State Rice.
What the record seems to indicate with the use of torture in the Bush years was to use torture to attempt to gain some credibility for the notion that somehow Iraq was involved with 9/11.
Those who ignore history are likely to repeat the same mistakes that occured in the past. We need an intelligence community that provides policy makers with honest assessments of what they see going on in the world; not rank amateurs who torture in order to manufacture a justification for policy which has already been decided on.
What we know about the Bush/Cheney torture agenda is that it betrayed not only our values as a country; but, provided faulty intelligence which allowed the United States to make the blunder of invading Iraq.
“So don’t be too pretentious guys…”
pretentious. pretentious? pretentious!
See that word is just pure torture. Never did care for it. Please stop. Your tearing my guts out.
If you want to get real info from someone they should be submitted to 10 hours of debate with Nancy Porklosi. During said debate they would be shocked everytime they attempted to correct her stutter.
“It should be outsourced to the professional grownups that know how to handle it.”
That goes without saying.
See if you get this spectator attack..that event is over you know about it. Its prudent to move on to the next possible attack. Assuming you didn’t know about the first one you have to assume you don’t know about the second one.
So time…time is critical. I don’t see this crowd doing it any differently.
Still boils down to..if the government holds an individual that knows about that second attacked…and that second attack happens…
Can you imagine the fall out?
Thats a Non Bull Sh^t, non- academia real world truth.
“Thats a Non Bull Sh^t, non- academia real world truth.”
That’s why in 2003 Pelosi sat there and said nothing. She’s a lunatic its true but she is not a complete lunatic.
of Know-it-Alls we are. If Torture doesn’t work then why has it been in practice for tens of thousand of years? Think someone would have figured out along the way that its better to just be nice?
Its just an absurd argument.
Second, because Waterboarding worked you can bet your bottom dollar if we are attacked tomorrow Obama will order it used again if necessary.
So lets MoveOn and talk about the economy, lost jobs and stuff. REAL STUFF
You have no evidence Tiny that torture worked. There is sworn congressional testimony by national security experts which says that, in general, information obtained through torture is not reliable.
What we need from our intelligence operations is reliable information; not, information that we want to hear. If all you want is the information you want to hear, then you can get the same result as the disasters delivered by the Bush Administration.
I wont waste my valuable time on this beautiful day arguing the totally inconsistent positions of our terminally dopey libs………
I only post this to show the typical 5-4 Supreme Court decisions where the allegedly GREATEST LEGAL MINDS OF OUR COUNTRY TOTALLY SPLIT ON THE MOST BASIC OF CONSTITUTIONAL ISSUES.
Thus, Parth and Dora are entitled to their legal opinions, the rest of us certainly are entitled to our own.
MINE, ie:
a same person cannot reconcile waterboarding oppostion with prochoice.
Nope,Nada, cant be done! totally stupid beyond belief.
WAPO:
Abuse and Accountability
The Supreme Court turns back a detainee’s lawsuit against top Justice Department officials.
In dismissing the claims against Mr. Ashcroft and Mr. Mueller yesterday, the Supreme Court concluded that Mr. Iqbal had not presented enough evidence to support his allegations. “It should come as no surprise that a legitimate policy directing law enforcement to arrest and detain individuals because of their suspected link to the attacks would produce a disparate, incidental impact on Arab Muslims, even though the purpose of the policy was to target neither Arabs nor Muslims,” a 5 to 4 majority ruled.
Of course, I bet Parth has a reason why the majority 5 in this case are totally “Bushco” hacks!
i.e.
they dare disagree with him
;o)
Will Obama appoint parth to the Court?
We all await this monumental decsion….
The current United States Supreme Court is made of nine justices of which seven were appointed by Republican Presidents. Given the fact that the Republican party has become a small national party made of southern radicals and members of the christian right, the numbers on the Supreme Court, over time, will reflect more moderates and liberals.
When this happens, the drift of the Supreme Court will reflect the values of the country and not a tiny radical conservative agenda.
But keep it up 6th District Jim. You can insure that the next Congress has more Democrats and the Democratic Governor elected in Minnesota in 2010 will have large majorities to work with in the legislature. You are the best fundraising and recruiting tool I can think of.
“If Torture doesn’t work then why has it been in practice for tens of thousand of years?”
It works but not for what you think it works for, tiny. Torture works for obtaining false confessions. It works to terrify people too. You torture enough of a given population and they know that torture is what they’re in for if they don’t follow your rules. Fear of torutre can keep an oppressed people in line. 220-some years ago some brainy guys envisioned a new kind of republic where we threw out all that autocratic sh!t that as you say had been working for 10,000 years. There must have been a reason for that. I do think there was something broken that Franklin, Jefferson etc were trying to fix.
“You torture enough of a given population and they know that torture is what they’re in for if they don’t follow your rules. Fear of torutre can keep an oppressed people in line.”
Uhhh… Torture is bad mmmmkay?
Sounds like Iraq under Saddam wouldnt you say Tiny? As a guy who thinks the Iraq war part Deux is the beginning of democracy in the middle east and a victory for the US, Im wodnering why you think torture is a good thing.
“If Torture doesn’t work then why has it been in practice for tens of thousand of years?”
And you expect people to take you seriously whe you parrot this rw idiocy?
Then you must believe all those people in Salem actually were witches.
“This proves our country is not a mature enough democracy for torture”
And another unbelievably repugnant comment.
“Given the fact that the Republican party has become a small national party made of southern radicals and members of the christian right, the numbers on the Supreme Court, over time, will reflect more moderates and liberals.”
Isnt it a mistake to consider that a judge appointed by a Republican is automatically conservative and not liberal. Arent there several cases where judges appointed by republican presidents turned out to be liberal on the bench?
“a same [sic] person cannot reconcile waterboarding oppostion with prochoice”
So 6 Dimwit Jim is admitting he’s not a sane person by his own standard.
“And another unbelievably repugnant comment.”
Actually, its another joke you didnt get.
“Sounds like Iraq under Saddam wouldnt you say Tiny?”
“This proves our country is not a mature enough democracy for tortureâ€
So GO is actually saying then that Iraq was a mature democracy?
Apparently GO is just one big joke.
“So GO is actually saying then that Iraq was a mature democracy?”
Its hard for you I know Dora. Not having a sense of humor is a disability.
“And you expect people to take you seriously whe you parrot this rw idiocy?”
See you think your smarter then any person very born before you. You have also cause the earth to warm by the friction cause by your being. You know and see all. Your vision is impeccable.

As far as this blog is concerned. But there is nothing more pathetic than a person who “doesn’t get it”.
To turn everything into a joke is the sign of insecurity. To think all jokes are appropriate is the mark of immaturity. To think you know everything based on a blog is the sign of arrogance. All are abundant among you hard core Think Againers.
poor tiny. Can’t stand being caught in his own web.
“Isnt it a mistake to consider that a judge appointed by a Republican is automatically conservative and not liberal. Arent there several cases where judges appointed by republican presidents turned out to be liberal on the bench?”
There had been such judges and they have occured, in history, from both parties. President Kennedy thought he was getting something different than what he got with Justice White.
I just find it rather interesting that a major talking point of most conservative groups is the “activist judges” even though most of these judges have been appointed by Republican Presidents.
Then again, I am not sure what President Eisenhower would think of the current Republican party. Justice John Paul Stevens is a Republican appointee (a Eisenhower Republican appointed by Gerald Ford) who now centers the liberal block of Justices on the Supreme Court.
“To turn everything into a joke is the sign of insecurity. To think all jokes are appropriate is the mark of immaturity. To think you know everything based on a blog is the sign of arrogance. All are abundant among you hard core Think Againers.”
To think this blog is anything more than a virtual street corner and to confuse it with a classroom or a court room where things matter is a sign of dilusion. You must need a trailer to carry your inflated ego around Dora. Just because you think your changing the world here on this blog and choose to take it more seriously than cancer doesnt mean the rest of us do.
“poor tiny. Can’t stand being caught in his own web.’
God !!! Are you the crazy lady in the next door apartment or what?
And Dora I’m just sensing the Outrage you must feel over this humanitarian Crises in Pakistan caused by the Obama policies.
And people continue to lose their jobs Dora and their “hope†and gas prices keep rising. These where all issue you where very passionate about before Dora.
And this war thing..this war thing..
AP Source: Democrats won’t fund Guantanamo closing
And this stuff.
Dora you better worry more about what your President and party are doing and less about what Rush is saying.
I see about 6 things you claim to stand for that your party and president is backing away from.
Have you perhaps been “used”. .
“Just because you think your changing the world here on this blog and choose to take it more seriously than cancer doesnt mean the rest of us do.”
What an idiotic statement.
tiny, you’re really not worth the pixels.

The guy who is retiring. Souter. There’s an example right there.
“What an idiotic statement.”
Take the blog a seriously as you want to Dora. Really, its noble work you’re doing here. Keep pounding that sand.
tiny,
How do you figure the crisis in Pakistan was caused by Obama’s policies?
To think you know everything based on a blog is the sign of arrogance. All are abundant among you hard core Think Againers.
I never claim to know everything.
I know half of everything, but I’m good friends with the guy that knows the other half.
To think this blog is anything more than a virtual street corner and to confuse it with a classroom or a court room where things matter is a sign of dilusion.
It’s Heaven for GO. A bar with no bouncers.
“AP Source: Democrats won’t fund Guantanamo closing”
And further down in same source: “The developments on Capitol Hill came as the Pentagon said it still expects the prison at Guantanamo Bay to be closed by January 2010 as Obama has ordered.
Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell told reporters on Tuesday that he sees nothing to indicate the January 2010 deadline will be delayed.”
But of course if you only read headlines you won’t get the entire picture.
“How do you figure the crisis in Pakistan was caused by Obama’s policies?”
God? I have you lost your leftwing credentials? If lets say our last President was pushing the Pakistani government to confront the terroists in their country..who’s fault would this humanitarian crisis be? ( no coverage anymore by the way, must be over..Obama solved that sh^t already)
Silly folks you are.

Soooo to be non-arrogantly taken securely mature, I must post as a leftwing lunatic? Or to be more specific, Dora?
Well, Dorat, I was making the point that I do not trust government to do the things I listed and ended it with a little fun and your ire (or is it Arrrgh).
Read it again and tell me its all a joke, ya twinkie. What happened, Ya wake up on the wall side of the bed? HA!
Oops there I go again…………
“I know half of everything, but I’m good friends with the guy that knows the other half.”
He’s joking here Dora. This is a joke. It’s not a serious statement.
“Apparently GO is just one big joke. ”
Or you’re to inept to understand what he’s getting at ..
“The House bill effectively exceeds Obama’s request by almost $12 billion, adding $2.2 billion to foreign aid accounts, refusing to fund the closing of Guantanamo, and funding eight C-17 cargo planes despite Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ desire to cease purchases of the aircraft as part of his effort to reform Pentagon procurement.â€
Now lets see …which party has this huge majority. Seems like some folks might not want to have a funding vote.
Why????
Because they don’t want these “Detainees†which I don’t think most would would have a problem with if they where just “Detainees†but they’re terrorists.
Its only the leftwing idiots who think otherwise.
Lets see those PA and OH dems voting to “Free the Terrorists”. You’d have a better chance of them voting for gay marriage then that sh^t.
“House Democrats won’t give Obama funds to close Gitmo”
“WASHINGTON — The Obama administration’s bid for $50 million to move prisoners from the Guantanamo Bay detention facility was left out of the Democratic-authored emergency war-spending bill unveiled Monday.”
Dorat,
What on earth are the deciples of Obama doing. Man I was looking forward to some suicide bombing or massive hostage takeover on american soil to get those guys released. I guess we’ll have to wait for another silly Obama policy on terrorism to get the next big bang here on american soil.
“Apparently GO is just one big joke. â€
Tiny is pretending like he gets it.
“He’s joking here Dora. This is a joke.”
Did ya get it Dora, huh, did ya get it, did ya get the joke dora, huh, did ya.

Tiny, Tiny, Tiny. Governmental agencies only lie during Republican administrations.
When Democrats are in charge, there are less clouds in the sky, the bluebirds sing more, and the Pentagon tells the truth 100% of the time.
“It’s Heaven for GO. A bar with no bouncers.”
One bouncer. I must have at least one person to piss off. Some one I can out run. Otherwise its just purgatory.
I bet you Dora kills ‘em at happy hours and parties. People will be talking about the ball game in a little circle or telling some joke about this or that and Dora will bust in with her diet soda in hand and tell everyone how immature they are for telling jokes and talking sports while predator drones are dropping bombs on babies in Afghanistan and Republicans some place are vetoing tax bills.
“I bet you Dora kills ‘em at happy hours and parties.”
I don’t know for sure, that I will admit (because i’m not imature, insecure or arrogant), but I bet after a couple of redbulls the shirt and skirt fly off and its lapdances for everyone, Aint that right Dorat, you little vixin you……dirty dirty girl….

See, it’s just one continual circle.

But of course if you only read headlines you won’t get the entire picture.
You won’t get it by cherry picking details either.
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama’s allies in the Senate will not provide funds to close the Guantanamo Bay prison next January, a top Democratic official said Tuesday.
With debate looming on Obama’s spending request to cover military and diplomatic operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, the official says Democrats will deny the Pentagon and Justice Department $80 million to relocate Guantanamo’s 240 detainees.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the proposed changes to the bill were to be unveiled later.
The administration has yet to develop a plan for what to do with the detainees, and Obama’s promise to close the facility is facing strong GOP opposition.
It appears to be a tactical retreat. Once the administration develops a plan to close the facility, congressional Democrats are likely to revisit the topic, provided they are satisfied there are adequate safeguards.
The developments on Capitol Hill came as the Pentagon said it still expects the prison at Guantanamo Bay to be closed by January 2010 as Obama has ordered.
I suppose having an actual plan is a reasonable request.
Don’t be alarmed by that loud thump you hear. It’s just the warm, fuzzy platitudes that got Obama elected, smacking face first into the real world.
Kind of like when a golden retriever runs into a plate glass door.
my,my I really do drive the hard core Think Againers nuts. haha. Love it.

Source: “EIT” Term Wasn’t In Use When Pelosi Was Briefed
By Zachary Roth – May 19, 2009, 12:27PM
Here’s yet another reason (as if more were needed) to doubt that that CIA briefings document perfectly reflects what lawmakers were told about torture back in the early days of the war on terror.
Almost every briefing described in the document — including the September 2002 Pelosi briefing that’s directly at issue — refers to “EITs,” or enhanced interrogation techniques, as a subject that was discussed. But according to a former intelligence professional who has participated in such briefings, that term wasn’t used until at least 2006.
That’s not just an issue of semantics. The former intel professional said that by using the term in the recently compiled document, the CIA was being “disingenuous,” trying to make it appear that the use of such techniques was part of a “formal and mechanical program.” In fact, said the former intel pro, it wasn’t until 2006 that — amid growing concerns about the program among some in the Bush administration — the EIT program was formalized, and the “enhanced interrogation techniques” were properly defined and given a name.
The former intel professional, no partisan defender of Democrats, faulted Nancy Pelosi for not pressing harder in the briefing to determine exactly which techniques had and hadn’t been used. “The extent to which members ask questions should drive what’s going on,” said the former intel pro. “It’s your job to ask.”
Still, the impression created by the CIA, and by Republicans looking to use the document to damage Pelosi, is that as early as 2002 there was a universally agreed upon definition of enhanced interrogation techniques (the document, remember, doesn’t say that waterboarding was mentioned during the Pelosi briefing). In reality, it appears, the term, and the techniques it encompassed, occupied a far murkier realm.

“my,my I really do drive the hard core Think Againers nuts.â€
Nobody drives my nuts… well, except for my wife .. she can drive them really crazy ..
in a good way.
Sorry about the double post. Did not appear that it had posted.
“But according to a former intelligence professional who has participated in such briefings, that term wasn’t used until at least 2006.”
What makes this unnamed former intel official believable? Its a he said she said kind of deal. Everyone is susdpect if you ask me.
“God? I have you lost your leftwing credentials? If lets say our last President was pushing the Pakistani government to confront the terroists in their country..who’s fault would this humanitarian crisis be? ( no coverage anymore by the way, must be over..Obama solved that sh^t already)”
This answer is so incoherent I’m not sure what you mean, tiny, but let me try to paraphrase.
You think people like true and Dora would be blaming the Taliban’s conquest of the Swat Valley on Bush if he were still in power and doing whatever Obama’s been doing. Maybe you’re right but that’s different than actually thinking that Obama’s policies actually led to this current battle that’s raging. So.
Do you really think that the policies of the Obama administration caused the Taliban to run amok in the Swat valley? Cause and effect? or are you just OCD beating leftists over the head with what you perceive to be their double standard?
““But according to a former intelligence professional who has participated in such briefings, that term wasn’t used until at least 2006.â€
What makes this unnamed former intel official believable? Its a he said she said kind of deal. Everyone is susdpect if you ask me.”
Quite. So let’s open an investigation and find out who did, and who knew, what, when. Get to the bottom of it. It’ll take forever and it’ll be one big CYA exercise, but it’s better than throwing our hands up in the air and pointing fingers at everyone.
Put our money where our mouths are.
True, something about this TPM site where this Roth guy sites an annoymous former intel pro doesnt seem very impartial or believable.
“What makes this unnamed former intel official believable? Its a he said she said kind of deal. Everyone is susdpect if you ask me. ”
And that’s about as far as anyone will get with this whole thing.
People wanted outcomes and stepped across lines in all cases creating a giant sh!t storm.
They need to get out of the weather and move on to a better climate.
“my,my I really do drive the hard core Think Againers nuts. haha. Love it.”
Now your gettin it. Its a blast.
“Commentary on political events from a politically left perspective”
Talking Points Memo…. Nice sight True.
An article by a guy who had a nervous breakdown last August and was fired as the Editor of the Observor who uses an annoymous former intel pro as a source? You think this is cerdible OR unbiased? I dont think so.
“People wanted outcomes and stepped across lines in all cases creating a giant sh!t storm.”
which is great weather for harvesting peanuts and corn. get a net.
“With links to others who dispute the briefing accuracy.”
I dispute your links accuracy. Unnamed intel pro’s should not be taken at their word. They have a tendency to lie. Especially on pratisan news sites. Why not just post some link to a City Pages article, their nice and unbiased.
“The former intel professional said that by using the term in the recently compiled document, the CIA was being “disingenuous,” trying to make it appear that the use of such techniques was part of a “formal and mechanical program.” In fact, said the former intel pro, it wasn’t until 2006* (see correction below) that — amid growing concerns about the program among some in the Bush administration — the EIT program was formalized, and the “enhanced interrogation techniques” were properly defined and given a name.
*Correction: A Nexis search which we should have done earlier shows that the term “enhanced interrogation techniques” was used by CIA from June 2004 onwards.”
Uh Oh…. Looks like the TPM has published something by an annonymous source that wasnt true. Those annoymous sources are such kidders…. Um Im mean liars.
“which is great weather for harvesting peanuts and corn. get a net. ”
If you add in some Black Label you’ll get a hurricane sh!t storm .. or as some would say …
lunch at Tiny’s?
” Unnamed intel pro’s should not be taken at their word”
The links are not unnamed intel pros.
And real nice character assassination. But that’s your typical MO.
2004 onward? Well, that’s still two years after Pelosi was briefed.
“Black Label”
Ever try that Northern Beer? I bought a 12er of that for $4.99. I thought I was in Gitmo being tortured. Worst $4.99 I ever spent.
“which is great weather for harvesting peanuts and corn. get a net. â€
If you don’t mind, I think I’ll hire a Mexican for that harvest.
“The links are not unnamed intel pros.”
Nice Dora. You post a link to a story by a guy who is mentally unstable, and uses an annoymous source, who probably doenst exist, with factual errors. Its a BS sotry from a partisan web site. Its garbage. No better than a FOX news story posted by D2.
“And real nice character assassination.”
When the charector needs to be expossed by filling in the details to get the whole picture hell yes. I thought you were a full picture gal?
“Well, that’s still two years after Pelosi was briefed.”
Yep, and also a factual error making the unnamed source unreliable. I guess factual errors dont bother you when the partisan source is on your side. Typical….
Dora, I listen to Sports radio from time to time and I read the sports page every day. Often you’ll see these little stories with “annoymous” source with direct knowledge pertaining to some free agent move or pending deal. Those stories almost never materialize into anyting. Know why? Because its subterfuge from inside the GM’s office to throw people off track or to cover something else thats happening. Its nothing more than rumors. Your Roth story is a rumor with a factual error in it.
“Ever try that Northern Beer? I bought a 12er of that for $4.99. I thought I was in Gitmo being tortured. Worst $4.99 I ever spent. ”
I don’t partake anymore, but I’ll be sure to supply it for any guests that I’d rather not have as guests ..
“If you don’t mind, I think I’ll hire a Mexican for that harvest.”
You are now on D2′s hit list ..
You really are repugnant Deacon. It seems to me you’re the mentally unstable one. He updated his own story. So you weren’t filling in any picture as you are trying to imply, he did himself.
Lexis search says 2004 is when they first used the term. How in the he11 can you dispute that using that term began 2 years after Pelosi was briefed? Oh you can’t, that’s why you have to rely on character assassination.
So now you’re disputing Lexis?
And what is the basis for your attacks against Roth himself?
“I don’t partake anymore, but I’ll be sure to supply it for any guests that I’d rather not have as guests ..”
Margaritas made with anti-freeze work well for getting rid of unwanted houseguests.
Nexis, not Lexis.
“You really are repugnant Deacon.”
Repugnant? Ill take that as a compliment.
“He updated his own story.”
Good for him. At least now he can save some face and look just a little less stupid than he already does.
” How in the he11 can you dispute that using that term began 2 years after Pelosi was briefed?”
Did I try? Im stories with annonymous sources from partisan sites are BS especially when hastily written and containing factual errors.
“Oh you can’t, that’s why you have to rely on character assassination.”
Slow down lady, this isnt a direct dialogue. If you want me to answer your question you have to give me time. But charector assasination is easy to do when the author has got enough skeletons in his closet. Find an unbiased identifiable source on a reputable site and Id be glad to take the info into consideration.
Rep David Obey sent a letter to CIA pointing out another inaccuracy in that CIA briefing summary and this is CIA’s response:
“While CIA’s information has Mr. Juola attending briefings on September 19, 2006 and October 11, 2007, there are different recollections of these events, which Mr. Obey’s letter describes. As the agency has pointed out more than once, its list — compiled in response to congressional requests — reflects the records it has. These are notes, memos, and recollections, not transcripts and recordings.”
There is just no slam dunk here. And the more Republicans push this nonsense the closer we’ll get to getting what the Republican’s desperately don’t want. An investigation.
“So now you’re disputing Lexis?”
Nope. Im saying Roth’s annonymous source lied, making the entire story suspect which it was already given its cloak and dagger nature. I dont put much weight into stories that rely on “little birdies” to provide the details.
“And what is the basis for your attacks against Roth himself?”
Ive got an annonymous source who’s close to the situation. He flew in my window and landed on my shoulder and told me.
“There is just no slam dunk here. And the more Republicans push this nonsense the closer we’ll get to getting what the Republican’s desperately don’t want. An investigation.”
Mr. Repugnant agrees. Lets have the investigation.
Wait, does the missed slam dunk apply to Pelosi too or only when a republican swears to something?
“Margaritas made with anti-freeze work well for getting rid of unwanted houseguests. ”
I’ll bet that really bright green 50/50 would throw a good punch.. hmm?
“Find an unbiased identifiable source on a reputable site and Id be glad to take the info into consideration.”
Good luck finding that .. it’s all conjecture right now.
The only people who know the truth were those present and/or participating.
Which means .. we’ll never know the truth.
Personally, I think both sides are lying their @sses off and would prefer we never know the truth .. in the meantime, they’ll use it for political fodder to make the other side look bad.
Pay attention to those who are ignoring it .. they’ve got the right idea and are the ones who know what’s really important.
“Good for him. At least now he can save some face and look just a little less stupid than he already does.”
What bs are you trying to push now? You copied that correction you posted right from his story.
I’m not at all surprised you would consider being repugnant a compliment. You obviously aspire to it.
dora,
google Roth’s name and you’ll find snarky media biz gossip columns about how he cried in the newsroom at the Observer before he got fired. I’m sure that’s all Deacon did was google the author’s name. Not that that necessarily means his subsequent blogging lacks veracity. But, I’ll tell ya, if you’re hanging your evidentiary hopes on the guy you might as well be consulting with Dare2 on immigration policy, kna’mean?
Personally I think it’s pointless to quibble and quibble about what Pelosi knew when. Suffice to say that she was in a position to get to the bottom of the stinky things the administration was doing and her leadership or lack thereof in this regard was pathetic. For years.
I suspect Pelosi is motivated more by the desire to be in power than by the desire to use that power to fix things.
I don’t know why her consituents vote for her again and again. But then again I don’t know why Dare2 and Jim vote for Bachmann and I’m sure they’re equally baffled why I vote for Ellison. I guess each district is entitled to their own mistake for who they send to Congress.
“I don’t know why her consituents vote for her again and again. But then again I don’t know why Dare2 and Jim vote for Bachmann and I’m sure they’re equally baffled why I vote for Ellison. I guess each district is entitled to their own mistake for who they send to Congress.”
Vhat a country! Ain’t democracy grand?
“I’m not at all surprised you would consider being repugnant a compliment.”
Repugnancy isnt an absolute, its relative. If Im repugnant to you that means Im right where I want to be.
“What bs are you trying to push now? You copied that correction you posted right from his story.”
Oh I dont know the fact that he changed his story before some one else could call him on it, means hes not totally crazy. Im not trying to say I found it, only that he was using a source who’s sh:t wasnt in order. The original factual error renders the rest of the story suspect with or without the correction.
Ah, Deacon is just resorting to his usual guise of agent provacateur.
The amazing thing to me is that while I think it is unclear what Pelosi knew and when she knew it; Deacon was ready to convict here because he knows that all government officials are venal and only acting out of self interest.
Now, that may be true; but, I prefer to wait for the facts to catch up with Deacon’s opinion.
“Personally, I think both sides are lying their @sses off and would prefer we never know the truth .. in the meantime, they’ll use it for political fodder to make the other side look bad.”
And, as I said earlier, make more noise than the printing presses debasing the dollar.
Brazil and China eye plan to axe dollar.

“Deacon was ready to convict here because he knows that all government officials are venal and only acting out of self interest.”
Its consistent as gravity. Accept for Jimmy Carter, that guy is a saint.
“This time Bachmann’s coming at ACORN through the front door.”
I keep looking at the topic of this thread and thinking, man there’s got to be some sort of ribald double entendre goin on here.
“I don’t know why her consituents vote for her again and again. But then again I don’t know why Dare2 and Jim vote for Bachmann and I’m sure they’re equally baffled why I vote for Ellison. I guess each district is entitled to their own mistake for who they send to Congress.”
D2 votes for Bachman because they share the same psychoanalyst and refuse to take their medication.
Ellison isn’t lying (yet), so he’s probably safe for now and attracts sane people.
By the way Deacon, what is the percentage of responsibility of bankers and the banking industry in the financial crisis we are in?
I would put the responsibility at 51%.
Why, because I really do not believe that the politicians beat a path to the bankers’ doors to ask for money for whatever they wanted. It is clear that the banking industry provided the roadmap for the disaster and the politicians that worked with them were only stoogies in the game for some extra cash.
Oh, a gossip column. Now that’s a really good reason to call someone mentally ill!
She wasn’t chairing any committee. She wasn’t Speaker of the House. She was the ranking minority member. And as you recall Democrats were complaining about routinely being cut out of briefings. I believe that Republicans did know more than Democrats. But I’m sure Democrats suspected.
She could have asked more questions. But then, we don’t know what questions she did ask or what the answers were. And they all could have asked more questions. But we also have to put it in the perspective of how fear was being used and how dissent was being treated.
I agree that focusing on what she knew when is a big distraction to the fact that Bush Cheney ordered torture, lied about it, and tried to cover it up with a feeble attempt at legal opinions.
The other thing I’ll agree with is that Democratic leadership in Congress was pathetic during that time.
“By the way Deacon, what is the percentage of responsibility of bankers and the banking industry in the financial crisis we are in?”
I hope your not giving the other 49% to a combination of Wall Street, Govt and the spenders. If so I dont think you understand the problem
Id break it down like this:
Public spending habits: 25%
Finance Industry:(rating agencies, wall street, lawyers, insurance companies, banks and actuaries):37.5%
Govt:37.5%
“Why, because I really do not believe that the politicians beat a path to the bankers’ doors to ask for money for whatever they wanted.”
You dont think politicians buddied up to wall street for campaign contributions?
“Oh, a gossip column. Now that’s a really good reason to call someone mentally ill!”
You have a hard time identifying sarcassm dont you?
And, as I said earlier, make more noise than the printing presses debasing the dollar.
I’m so glad I drive a car with a 12.7 gallon fuel tank.
It should only cost me $32,000 to fill it.
You have a hard time identifying sarcassm dont you?
In my last post, I was faking my sarcasm.
Could anyone tell?
“In my last post, I was faking my sarcasm.”
You faked a sarcasm? Vomit faked a sarcasm! You can’t do that. Can he do that? That is pretty immature insecure and arrogant.
Thats just wrong…………
Stupid damn spam filter. OK let’s try this again.
I think the blame should be shifted more to the banks because they always had the choice to deny some of the more outlandish lo@n apps that were coming across their collective desks.
Not to mention they could have lent their own capital and owned those lo@ns to term rather than immediately bundling them into securities and selling them off.
Ever try that Northern Beer? I bought a 12er of that for $4.99. I thought I was in Gitmo being tortured. Worst $4.99 I ever spent.
I don’t mind Black Label. Best super cheap beer around. Haven’t had it for almost a year now… but there are some other cheap beers that are WAY worse.
Hey Dora,
When was the last time you faked a sarcasm? Or was even in a position to fake a sarcasm?
I’ve had premature sarcasm but I never faked one.
“but there are some other cheap beers that are WAY worse.”
How about 3.2% Black Lable? Through a screen door not hitting a wire 3.2% Black Lable.
Out on the East Coast when I was in school the frat boys drank a lot of this cheap beer calle Piels. My God that stuff was revolting.
So the Chinese and the Brazilians are thinking of trading with their own curencies. Fine with me. They must be feeling lucky. I do agree with CS in that it’s interesting we all have waterboarding on the brain rather than monetary policy.
Any of you conversant with the latest conspiracy theory that the US has offered our national lands as collateral on our debt to the Chinese?
There’s a variant of the theory that says that’s why we keep saying no to drilling in ANWR, because the Chinese have already been promised the leases and the govt doesn’t want to admit it. Pretty high up on the whopper scale if you ask me. I’m kinda surprised Dare2 or CNC haven’t busted out with a copy-paste of it yet in this forum.
“I think the blame should be shifted more to the banks”
Define banks. Many organizations originating l o ans and doing underwriting on the l o ans weren’t banks. But I do agree that more blame needs to go to the finance professionals than the consumer because of the fiduciary responsibility envolved. Basically from now on finance people should treat all consumers like drug aditics who cant be trusted. See if you can spot the sarcassm Dora.
Many traditional banks cant keep l o ans on their books because they need liquidity. If they do keep the l o ans on the books, pretty soon there is no more money to lend because its all been lent. You cant open enough new deposit accounts on a consistent basis to have enough capital on hand to lend out with any consistency unless you sell the l o ans. That’s problematic to the consumer who needs to know that they can walk into a bank and get a l o an if they qualify. What if you walked into a bank and they said “you look like a good credit risk but we just don’t have any money to lend. Come back later when we’ve opened more checking accounts.” The other down side is credit standards would get pinched and we’d be back to the old days where you needed to know the banker in your town and be a white man in a professional industry. Selling l o ans on the market can be done in a prudent manner if everyone does their job. Access to credit is essential to a healthy entrepreneurial economy and this helps that.
I guess they could borrow the money from other banks or the govt and lend on the margin but that gets to be problematic too for multiple reasons.
“I guess they could borrow the money from other banks or the govt and lend on the margin ”
that’s what I was thinking. Problematic? Why? I guess if that’s what the banks still did it would result in higher interest rates to the consumers, but why else?
I could see it being problematic, I guess, if you’ve made so many bad lo@ns to sketchy borrowers that you have trouble servicing the debt you took on to lend from and your own credit rating goes bad. Wait a minute…
“my,my I really do drive the hard core Think Againers nuts. haha. Love it. ”
Fact is no one wants the Gitmos housed in jails in the United States. It makes each community next to a prison a target for an attack. Terrorists love to do trades ( or at least in the old days when they weren’t completely nuts ). Plus no one wants to be tagged with letting a guy out who comes back and kills Americans.
This whole Gitmo/Torture thing is nothing but wind. But lets have a straight up vote?
See Dora thats how reasonable people ( both D’s and R’s, both lunch bucket and white collar )think about this stuff.
But lets vote and lets have the “Truth” thing. The thing that I’m most disgusted of in my whole life is I gave the Democrats my life and they turned around and let the lunatics run their agenda and used this stuff to get power.
I loathe those that would put party before country.
“You faked a sarcasm?”
With his best “OH Face” on.
“You have a hard time identifying sarcassm dont you? ”
You are the most disingenuous, intellectually dishonest @sshole this site has ever seen.
You were not being sarcastic in your two posts criticizing him as having had a nervous breakdown and being mentally unstable. You are likely trying to cover up how low it is to criticize him for using an anonymous source when you used a gossip column to attack him personally.
“I loathe those that would put party before country”
So you must loathe Republicans equally then, eh tiny?
“no one wants to be tagged with letting a guy out who comes back and kills Americans.”
Haven’t we been told that people who have been let out by Bush have killed Americans?
“no one wants the Gitmos housed in jails in the United States.”
We’ve already got terrorists housed in maximum security jails in the US.
What a buffoon you are.
“To think this blog is anything more than a virtual street corner and to confuse it with a classroom or a court room where things matter is a sign of dilusion. You must need a trailer to carry your inflated ego around Dora. Just because you think your changing the world here on this blog and choose to take it more seriously than cancer doesnt mean the rest of us do.â€
Dora, at some point before the current number of posts, even subtracting GO’s 33 post accident on 05/17 @ 1:23 am CST, the original topic has played out. According to whatever observable protocol has evolved in the BQ /TA hybrid, the BQ becomes whatever people need it to be: a locker room (like when D2 says “all ladies, leave the room,†a confessional –like when 6DJ says “like a scoarching (sic) case of the clap†and then claims he was just joking, an advertisement for a political position* like whenever you see the term Globull Warming, etc. Even when â€œ×œ×”×§×™× says his name means “Vomit,†there is humor in admitting to a bit of mutual OCD in even returning to this site at all.
Dora, I’ve said before that I believe you are one of the better bloggers here except for your tendancy to get trapped in the baiting that goes on. I’m sure the TA bloggers had a slightly different culture with KK which allowed her to occupy the role of “teacher†and be respected, although, as you can see, there were many who disagreed with her lessons.
I’m sure its not just a bunch of guys trying to drive the only remaining woman out of here, although AW evidently doesn’t find much here to sustain her interest. I think it is more a resistance to a a fellow blogger seeming to usurp, from a liberal perspective, the beloved KK’s role as teacher. After all, school is out for the summer if not forever. .
If you don’t actually enjoy being the focus of a hostile interrogation by unsympathetic prosecutors, i.e. torture, then respond sparingly to provocations. Better yet use the blog for undabashedly partisan purposes. We’re not changing the world by our posts here, …or are we? If even a handful of non participants monitored this blog it might be worth posting something like…..
“I was down on the virtual street corner today and saw the following handbill stapled to a vertual telephone pole.”
King Tim of Minnesota
Chorus:
King Tim of Minnesota
Doesn’t care about democracy
King Tim of Minnesota
He wants to be the President, you see.
Verse 1:
So, he acts like a little bully
It’s my way or the highway, says King Tim
He will not count your vote fully
Unless you vote GOP with him.
Chorus:
King Tim of Minnesota
Doesn’t care about democracy
King Tim of Minnesota
He wants to be the President, you see.
Verse 2:
He insists on “No New Taxesâ€
He’ll create new jobs by laying people off
He will kill your health and welfare
And the blood on his hands won’t wash off.
Chorus:
King Tim of Minnesota
Doesn’t care about democracy
King Tim of Minnesota
He wants to be the President you see.
Verse 3:
If you are a proud homeowner
You will pay for all Tim’s Budget Bill
He decided corporations get a free ride
Under Tim, the rich will never pay their fill.
King Tim of Minnesota
Doesn’t care about democracy
King Tim of Minnesota
He wants to be the President you see.
“except for your tendancy to get trapped in the baiting that goes on.”
Guilty as charged, adlib. And I confess, I rather do enjoy slamming the hostility right back. It is a gender thing because women typically back off. And I also realize that’s part of what drives them (especially tiny) crazy. teehee.
When I get tired of it I leave for awhile.
“Don’t be alarmed by that loud thump you hear. It’s just the warm, fuzzy platitudes that got Obama elected, smacking face first into the real world.
Kind of like when a golden retriever runs into a plate glass door.”
Chasing the bright elusive butterfly of love, hmmm?
It wasn’t the warm fuzzy platitudes that got him elected. It was the stream of small contributions demonstrating a heretofore unseen aspect of grassroots Democracy. What concerns me is where does he he turn when he realizes the small contributions are drying up and and the usual suspects are there to buy favors.
Jeez, will that be the fault of liberals if we don’t vote often enough with the checkbook and voluntary campaign work?
Adlib,
You are full of liberal crap. Minnesota has been attracting welfare recipients from across troubled America and the Globe for decades, and now it seems to be time to pay the bill for the liberal welfare magnet. Hang in there Governor Pawlenty! NO MORE TAXES!
It’s sad that Minnesota has been chasing out businesses by raising taxes taxes on them in order to pay for the liberal welfare magnet. We will soon turn into another liberal Detroit soon if the lib’s get their way.
King Tim of Minnesota
He wants to be the President you see.
Thanks unallot Dearth,
Will we be given the names of your unelected advisors on what to edit out of the budget and what to leave in?
Or are you really going to do this all by yourself?
Dang those Swiftboat Veterans for Truth! If not for them we may have had a Kerry presidency in’06 (Yes, D2 and perhaps a McCain presidency in ’08 if that hadn’t worked out.) We also might have had Mike Hatch for governor in the last election. Not the most inspiring candidate but a far sight better than what we’ve got.
Kerry in’04 that is. Still seen on older model vehicle bumbers.
“You have a hard time identifying sarcassm dont you?”
And a hard time with spelling it as well.
Well since you can’t turn around without stepping in it on this blog isn’t it time to leave the sarcasm and graduate to irony? It is less incendiary, more civilized, and an effective mode of discourse. All can appreciate a well turned rebuttal.
CS uses it, but ×œ×”×§×™× would be the foremost practioner of it that I see. Read a little Jane Austen if you need some good examples of it.
“This time Bachmann’s coming at ACORN through the front door.â€
“?I keep looking at the topic of this thread and thinking, man there’s got to be some sort of ribald double entendre goin on here. ”
Well she never did care much for going at it through the back door.
TrueBlue011 says:
But keep it up 6th District Jim. You can insure that the next Congress has more Democrats and the Democratic Governor elected in Minnesota in 2010 will have large majorities to work with in the legislature. You are the best fundraising and recruiting tool I can think of
Jim says:
Tru, I dont insure anything. Are you confusing me with State Farm? Funny Farm? No, that’s Pelosi and Dora.
As for your 2010 predictions, please, please savor you great recent victories…..Salute!
But it can be gone very quickly my friend, see 1994 and 2006.
Obama won, what, 54% of the 56% who voted? Good for him, but he rules where 7 of 10 didnt vote for him.
And off years have dismal turnout.
WE WILL SEE WHO TURNS OUT IN 2O10.
Good luck to your side ;o)
Better luck to mine……
2008* 231,229,580 132,618,580* 56.8%
2006 220,600,000 80,588,000 37.1%
2004 221,256,931 122,294,978 55.3 %
2002 215,473,000 79,830,119 37.0%
Adlib,
Great manefesto. I look forward to seeing it in paper back in its entirety.
Irony? Irony. Irony!
OK if you insist. I’ll give it a shot but I find it Ironic that I havent tried it earlier than now considering the sarcastic tone this blog protrudes to all that enter.
Even when â€œ×œ×”×§×™× says his name means “Vomit,†there is humor in admitting to a bit of mutual OCD in even returning to this site at all.
Okay, a little background on my user name is in order.
My user name is based on The Olbsmobile Vomit, aka The White Vomit. I have an extremely potent memory, and as a result, I have crystal clear recollections of every childhood emesis
perpetrated by myself and others. The result is that each of these events have a formal name, either by location (The Cadillac Vomit, The Green Monster Vomit, yep it was at Fenway, the vomit’s defining characteristics (The Fuschia Vomit, The Purple Vomit, and The Spirit of Ecstasy (poor Aunt S. let loose in the parking lot outside of a Howard Johnsons in Hartford, CT. Before the initial splash, she leaned forward and thrust her arms back, taking on the appearance of a hood ornament on a Rolls Royce), or the substance which triggered the event (The Watermelon Vomit, The Spinach Vomit, which was particularly amusing, because it occured when a drunk girl stumbled down a couple of steps, and crashed face first into a door. She stopped, her dinner didn’t, decorated the door in a beautiful double arch pattern. Immediately after, the doorbell rang, and when it was opened, an extremely drunk boy, who I disliked passed out, falling face first into the mess, and breaking his nose).
The Oldsmobile Vomit occured in the summer of 1971. While riding in my grandparent’s brand new Cutlass, I look over at my brother, and there he is, eyes closed tight, lips curled outward, ejecting this completely white substance all over himself and the interior of the car. I had never seen white vomit before (up until then, in my four year old innocence, all vomit I had seen looked like a New York style thin crust, dropped on the floor). I was sitting there, thinking “what’s that white stuff coming out of his mouth” when the smell hit. Then it occured to me what that white stuff was, and my thoughts were as follows.
(sniff, sniff) UGH!, It’s Vomit!!
Hey, white vomit! I didn’t know you could vomit white! Later that day, my brother did The Sunshine Vomit, and The Running Vomit
That’s what popped into my head as i was thinking of a user name.
I had wanted it to be It’s Vomit!!, but contractions don’t translate into Hebrew.
It’s terrible having such a good memory, as these childhood events often pop into my head while I’m in a business meeting.
“And I also realize that’s part of what drives them (especially tiny) crazy”
That you’re the worlds biggest hypocrite. Sure that bothers me. Seeing crazy lefty lunatics who go back on their beliefs just because of the letter after the Presidents name…Yes.
Dora you have no idea. I did switch parties after a life time of being a democrat and a very leftwing one in my youth. But I never never put my party before my country. When I saw the democrats being taken over by the leftwing and saw them trashing this country and president at every turn I stayed true to my principles and quit the party.
You..you just ignore things that where once at the core of your principles.
All our Michele-lovin’ denizens of Bachmannistan should make sure to watch their hot lady “debate” the demonic Barney on the “topic” of ACORN (of all things). I think it was a “Lou Dobbs” corporate press appearance, up on numerous websites.
It’s a comic matchup of a hapless ignoramus wingnut fading sexpot against an informed and witty demolisher of loony GOoPery, but one can’t help the strength of one’s “team” members. For conservative white males 2D, 6DJ and the Cash ACORN squirrel, it’s a must.
“For conservative white males”
Have you demonized conservative white males and are you saying they have no rights to be part of the national debate.
Interesting…
But lets not talk about “them” today..lets talk about the economy. Lets talk about the fact we are still losing jobs. Lets talk about the fact that I still think the government is listening to my phone calls. And this humanitarian crisis in Pakistan. Isn’t it a direct result of US Foreign Policy. Or gays lets talk about gays in military..I think they still have to “hide”…
Lets talk about REAL stuff.
“no right to be part of the debate”
That was lame even by your standards, tiny.
As for the REAL stuff, why don’t you first express your own opinion on the economy or the wisdom of the policies you raise instead of just asking questions about them to see what the demonic lib’rul posters will say?
You TAers are a pretty “reactive” bunch—let’s see you guys make some arguments first for once
And this website with the stimulus tracking….Nothing is going on?
And for more REAL stuff, I wrote a lengthy post condemning the senate Dems for caving to (endless) Repub bedwetting and gameplaying on “terra-rists in your backyard!!”, but the fukcing BQ filter ate it and I’m not going to recreate it.
“that’s what I was thinking. Problematic? Why? I guess if that’s what the banks still did it would result in higher interest rates to the consumers, but why else?”
By holding your l o ans you have less to lend. You’d have to ration the capital and tighten standards to a point where getting a l o an would be extremely difficult if you werent a very solid case.
Borrowing from other banks and from the govt is much more expensive and a less reliable revenue source than being able to sell the l o ans to investors. The originators did a bad job underwriting and thats their fault. Its the rating agencies fault for not being the impartial third party. Originators need to do a better job assessing risk and the rating agencies need a new compensation model to keep them impartial. If that happens selling l o ans to investors is a efficient way to keep credit cheap safe and available.
“of just asking questions about them to see what the demonic lib’rul posters will say?”
Because they where to loudest before. I didn’t think I would have to encourage them. I figured on principle they would be expressing it on their own. Seems like they only care about what Rush is saying.
“You are the most disingenuous, intellectually dishonest @sshole this site has ever seen.”
I see Dora ran out of diet soda at 7:01pm last night.
“You were not being sarcastic in your two posts criticizing him as having had a nervous breakdown and being mentally unstable.”
The mentally unsatble stuff was sarcasm. The rest was serious. Seriously Dora, get a sense of humor.
“Guilty as charged, adlib. And I confess, I rather do enjoy slamming the hostility right back. It is a gender thing because women typically back off.”
Dora, I think I indentified your problem. The feminist chip on your shoulder is what crushed your sense of humor.
“Lets talk about REAL stuff.”
Kraft now makes REAL no fat mozarella Tiny .. this is a good thing.
Did you pick up one of those stainless mini-jars for your nitro pills at WM?
And for more REAL neato groovey stuff, I wrote a lengthy post condemning the right for their absurd attitude towards the demise of the fabled CAnNibAl PolAR BEaR. Particularly for wanting to dynamite their caves for endless bedwetting and gameplaying on Globull Warming in our backyard!!
Butt the fukcing BQ filter ate it and I’m not going to recreate it.
So There….neener neeener neeeener…
“You TAers are a pretty “reactive†bunch”
“For conservative white males”
Parth,
It’s nice to see you have dropped your negative attitude towards the mentally challenged. I for one am proud to be among the reactionary TAers that outed you on your phony “t*rd” explaination.
Too bad, so sad you can’t admit to your own hypocrisy.
“I did switch parties after a life time of being a democrat and a very leftwing one in my youth.”
Still not forgiving you for that, tiny. My folks still refer to you as “that commie”.
“Did you pick up one of those stainless mini-jars for your nitro pills at WM?”
You know Greg since this thing happened I’m no longer afraid to die. If I just happen to not have them with me..so be it.
I just don’t want some Fat conservative white male to give me mouth to mouth.
And somebody to take care of me dog.
“I just don’t want some Fat conservative white male to give me mouth to mouth.”
Holding out for Barney Frank? That oughtta make you stecker pick up.
“You TAers are a pretty “reactive†bunch—let’s see you guys make some arguments first for once ”
Ah .. I see we’re segregating now .. don’t want TA’s in your neighborhood?
That’s not very nice.
“Holding out for Barney Frank? That oughtta make you stecker pick up.”
Actually, I think he wants D2 .. or ..
Pelosi ..
but his dream would be Dora.
“You know Greg since this thing happened I’m no longer afraid to die. If I just happen to not have them with me..so be it. ”
You don’t have someone making you keep them with you ..
I think .. you need ..
Dora.
Since she’s a nurse or something like that and needs to have a pen!s since she’s an over achieving feminist, it would be perfect.
She could take care care of you and you’d just have to give her your shlong ..
What a deal huh?
Do you think conservative white males tend to be fat, tiny?
Oh GO, always so defensive of your beloved Repubs, odd behavior for an “independent moderate”, I’d say……but then, you guys always are quick to retreat into claims of “joking!” and “sarcasm!”, so one nevers knows. And now adlib wants to sse irony added to your arsenal!
An obsession with sniffing out lib’rul “hypocrisy” is an infallible litmus test for detecting a conservative. As I look over the hollow, empty posts of most of the conservatives and (self identified) moderates at BQ, that seems to be the only thing they can “talk about”, to use tiny’s phrase. Lib’rul Hypocrisy!!
“How Lib’rul Hypocrisy Destroyed The US fo A” would be an absolute bestseller—start cranking it out, GO! Or has it already been written?
You could hear the people cheer
three hundred and sixty five days a year
the dog who never tired.
The postman who was sick and did it
(Dora-sey really did it quicker)
sat home by the fire.
Ah, Dora-sey the male carrying dog.
“start cranking it out, GO! Or has it already been written?”
I’m waiting for the movie to come out on beta.
“You TAers are a pretty “reactive†bunch—let’s see you guys make some arguments first for once”
I think I proposed the argument last friday that the TARP program forcing healthy banks to take govt money actually made the banking crisis and credit freeze worse by casting doubt on other wise financially stable institutions. It made the public think the problem was worse and more wide spread than it actually was.
So what’s the deal with this mother hiding out with her son to avoide him having chemo?
I guess it really is a matter of choice, but is the kid really making the choice or is it the mother/parents being that commited to their religion?
You really have to wonder if the parents should have the ultimate say for the kids well-being .. are they doing the right thing for their son or for their religious beliefs?
God helps those who help themselves?
“Oh GO, always so defensive of your beloved Repubs, odd behavior for an “independent moderateâ€,”
Am I an independent moderate? Geez parth, ya don’t have to stoop to name calling. I prefer “non-align independent so and so”.
“Holding out for Barney Frank? That oughtta make you stecker pick up.â€
Takin’ a glance back and seeing Barneys “Oh Face”
“Takin’ a glance back and seeing Barneys “Oh Face†”
Imagine that GO. Get that image stuck in your head the rest of the afternoon.
Worse then Feliz Navidad during Christmas.
“The mentally unsatble stuff was sarcasm.”
what a liar you are Deacon.
“Dora, I think I indentified your problem. The feminist chip on your shoulder.. ”
“needs to have a pen!s since she’s an over achieving feminist”
You guys sure are an insecure bunch. But I already knew that.
“An obsession with sniffing out lib’rul “hypocrisy†is an infallible litmus test for detecting a conservative.”
It’s just more fun to get under liberals skin. You’re much more sensitive about your liberal street cred. Insulting a republican can be fun but they usually shrug it off. It takes more effort to get them going. It takes only a small nudge to get a liberal flying off the handle. You can always go after D2 but he is so mental deranged that it’s not a challenge.
“what a liar you are Deacon.”
Dora, I added it to get you going. It worked. It was sarcasm. Youre just too stupid to see you got played.
“So what’s the deal with this mother hiding out with her son to avoide him having chemo?”
Katherine’s replacement Jon Tevlin has been covering this story in his columns.
He alleges that among other things, the kid is “home-schooled” and can’t read.
I think it’s a tragic case of a bad bad mother abusing her freedom and her child. They claim the boy chooses not to take the chemo for religious reasons but their religion is some kooky hippy-dippy new age bullsh!t.
It’s one of those cases where our adherence to the principle of guarding individuals’ freedoms runs smack into our desire to protect children from idiot parents. Kind of like the deal with the crazy FLDS folks on that ranch in Texas. Whaddaya do?
“And now adlib wants to sse irony added to your arsenal!”
Parth, Irony is easy when your not emotionally invested in either “team”.
“How Lib’rul Hypocrisy Destroyed The US fo Aâ€
Hmmm and here I was working on.
“How thumb-sucking, navel gazing, fat cat, fear mongers and greedy, torturing, fat cat, fear mongers hypocrisy Destroyed the USA.
Sure you did Deacon. Except your first post personally trashing him was not directed to me. Your misdirection doesn’t work any better than the Republican’s. You got caught repeating gossip as fact and you’re working overtime to try to save face. That’s why you never admitted where you got that information. But I had already googled and knew what DAR pointed out. Bzzzzt. you lose.
It’s one of those cases where our adherence to the principle of guarding individuals’ freedoms runs smack into our desire to protect children from idiot parents.
Religious freedom does not provide the freedom to abuse children.
Tragic is an apt description, the poor kid stands a good chance of recovery if he receives the proper care.
“Except your first post personally trashing him was not directed to me.”
You as in True and you. You both posted it. You just repsonded to it first.
“Bzzzzt. you lose.”
This isnt a game Dora, this is life and death. Try and be more mature.
“You got caught repeating gossip as fact and you’re working overtime to try to save face. That’s why you never admitted where you got that information.”
here’s the deal Dora, I was trying to bait you and True because its fun for me. Even if I think Roth’s article is basically worthless given the nature of his source, I wanted to see you and True try and defend and obviously partisan website using anonymous sources because Im fairly confident that if D2 came on here with a Drudfge report with an anonymous source saying Pelosi knew everything youd blow a gasket. I threw in the mentally unstable stuff as extra bait. I was being sarcastic about it because thats seems to work best with you and True because you both strugle with seeing what is and isnt serious.
“You guys sure are an insecure bunch. But I already knew that. ”
Insecure of what? That you have a bigger shlong?
No way .. we have real ones and you’re stuck with a fake from some factory ..
stamped with ..
‘D2 approved’.
You have way too much in common with him.
“Religious freedom does not provide the freedom to abuse children.”
My understand is there is also a Native American component to this thing. Sticky deal trying to go at this with out me losing Halo Points.
If the kid has a 10% chance to recover then fine let the parents have their way..But my understanding its like a 90% cure rate.
That bothers me a bit.

I heard its pretty much a scam tribe that you can get into by paying $250. How many tribes do you know populated with a bunch of Caucasian farmers?
Now I have the image of Barney Franks “Oh face” in my mind and Feliz Navidad playing in my head.

I’m kinda siding with making sure the kid gets the care he needs.
It stomps all over individual rights in one respect, but the kid is only 13 and how in the heck can he have the ability to make a good decision yet?
Another example of how extremism just isn’t a good thing ..
“I threw in the mentally unstable stuff as extra bait”.
I simply don’t believe you.
Greg, Greg, Greg. Fantasize much?
Senate votes to block funds for Guantanamo closure, any transfer of detainees to US
90-6
Dora please explain. I believe I was called a Buffoon up there before?
So we have 90 Buffoon Senators?
“It stomps all over individual rights in one respect, but the kid is only 13 and how in the heck can he have the ability to make a good decision yet?”
Not to mention parental rights. But I think parental rights don’t extend to the right to be an idiot. Id rather err on the side of the kid getting the treatment and living and dealing with infringements on his rights later.
“I simply don’t believe you.”
If you thought I was being serious then, thats good. It makes it easier for me to get you running in circles that way.
Tiny bulbs says:

Jim says:
Yes, those “honest” Dems were “all” for closing Gitmo, until they got a President that would actually do it.
Think of the gitmo posturing! over the years, can we hand out best acting oscars now?
Similarly, anybody who believes the Pelosi/Reid versions of the CIA briefings is simply mentally retarded, or living in their alternate star wars universe.
We deserve lying idiots as leaders, and we obviously have them.
So we have 90 Buffoon Senators?
102
Tiny Says “no one wants the Gitmos housed in jails in the United States.”
Dora Says “We’ve already got terrorists housed in maximum security jails in the US. What a buffoon you are.”
Senate buffoon says “90-6″
“”I can’t make it any more clear,” Reid said. “We will never allow terrorists to be released in the United States.”"
Now that guy(buffoon)I believe he is up for reelection.
“We’ve already got terrorists housed in maximum security jails in the US. What a buffoon you are.â€
Correct me if I’m wrong but weren’t those particular terrorists put in jail using the criminal justice system and without the use of torture making their incarcerations legit? If you put these guys on trial and the torture evidence comes out it will be virtually impossible to convict them in a court of law right? These guys aren’t ending up in the US Prison system if they’ve been in Guantanamo.
“We deserve lying idiots as leaders, and we obviously have them.”
And you’ve got Queen Idiot representing your district.
“Now that guy(buffoon)I believe he is up for reelection.”
That’s right, Reid is a buffoon for saying that. He’s not much of a majority leader either.
And every Democrat that fell for the same old Republican fear mongering needs a swift kick in the pants.
Dora,
Do you suppose those Dems that fell for it were stupid, spinless or complicit in the evilness? Which is worse between being stupid, weak and evil?
“If you thought I was being serious then, thats good.”
You’ve just made it even easier for me to dismiss whatever you say. You’re in the same league as Coulter, Limbaugh, Hannity, et al. The only difference is that they’re smart enough to get paid for it.
“The only difference is that they’re smart enough to get paid for it.”
Did you leave Olvermann, Maddow et al off the list because they’re not smart, but get paid anyway?
“You’ve just made it even easier for me to dismiss whatever you say.”
Dora, like Ive said all along, I dont care how you percieve me or if you listen to or care about what I write.
“You’re in the same league as Coulter, Limbaugh, Hannity, et al.”
You forgot Maddow and Olbermann.
Feinstein on the Senate floor: “Yes, we have maximum security prisons in California eminently capable of holding these people as well, and from which people — trust me — do not escape. So I believe that this has really been an exercise in fear-baiting. I hope it’s not going to be successful.”
Yet she voted against the funding.
Apparently they’re trying to have it both ways.
“Apparently they’re trying to have it both ways.”
Pandering from a Democrat? Say it ain’t so Dora.
I just hope they DON’T EXECUTE Khalid Sheik Mohammed…That would only make him a martyr in the eyes of every terrorist jerk off out there.
I think they should lock up up at SuperMax and throw away the key. That is real punishment. Ramsei Yousef converted to Christianity after only a couple of years there.
“Ramsei Yousef”
Is he related to the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens?
When I contemplate the Gitmo thing what bothers me the most is not even the torture part, it’s the holding someone for years with no charges filed part. And then you get these guys in a legal limbo where you can’t legally incarcerate them in your justice system (because you’ve already blown the case) but you know they are probably psychos if not when you nabbed them but for sure now after what you’ve done to them, so you can’t just exonerate and release them within your own country. And you can’t necessarily in good conscience put them back where you found them, because they were on the losing side of a war and might be marked for death or worse if they go back where they came from. So whaddaya do? I guess if I were Obama I’d opt for door number three. Don’t announce it’s what you’re doing, don’t ask Congress for 80 million dollars, just give your military an order. Drop the guys off in the middle of bumfcuk Afghanistan in the middle of the night with a Halal K ration and a gallon of water each, tell them sorry and good luck. Fly away. Make sure you’ve gathered biometric data on all of them before you let them go so you can implicate them in any subsequent real crimes they actually commit.
I can’t think of any other practical way to close Gitmo that doesn’t involve a backhoe-dug trench and a bunch of bullets. And I know we don’t want to go that route.
DA,
What if we put them on a flight to some supper max prison in the US and the plane “crashed”?????
“Greg, Greg, Greg. Fantasize much? ”
No
What if we put them on a flight to some supper max prison in the US and the plane “crashed????
Sarcasm, right?
But really this case of how to close Gitmo shows the weaknesss of the Dem leaders in Congress. They’re so afraid of the political consequences of taking any action that they sit and fret and dither and meanwhile these prisoners are being held for another year in baldfaced violation of the writ of Habeus Corpus. That’s why Obama should just quietly ship the mufuggers home and tell Congress after the fact. I think it’ll take a decisive unilateral and maybe illegal move from the current President to undue the decisive unilateral and definitely illegal work of his predecessor.
“What if we put them on a flight to some supper max prison in the US and the plane “crashedâ€?????”
That would be the makings of a really cool movie!
Nicholas Cage would be good in it I’d bet ..
I’ll bet they’d want to put the prison in South Dakota…
for D2 to visit.
“Sarcasm, right?”
Maybe?
Do you think the CIA could crash our own plane and make it look like it was an accident? Otherwise leave these guy in Gitmo and never let them out. Or let them out and shut up about it. Do something and quit playing both sides.
“I think it’ll take a decisive unilateral and maybe illegal move from the current President to undue the decisive unilateral and definitely illegal work of his predecessor.”
Yep. Being president looks easier on TV.
Wait DA, lets ask Dora what to do. She has all the answers, plus she’s mature so….
“Do you think the CIA could crash our own plane and make it look like it was an accident? Otherwise leave these guy in Gitmo and never let them out. Or let them out and shut up about it. Do something and quit playing both sides.”
Why don’t we figure out why each of them are there … just a guess, but some of them might be in there for no other reason than someone collecting a ‘reward’.
For those that are there jusifiably, then put them someplace they can’t escape from .. ever…
or .. plant a gps on ‘em and let ‘em go.
“or .. plant a gps on ‘em and let ‘em go.”
Sounds like a good twilight zone episode.
“Sounds like a good twilight zone episode. ”

“Wait DA, lets ask Dora what to do. She has all the answers, plus she’s mature so….”
Does mature mean old?
“Do you think the CIA could crash our own plane and make it look like it was an accident?”
Faisal and Achmed are sitting on the tarmac at Gitmo, waiting for their plane to take off.
Faisal: “I saw an inflatable dummy with a Captain’s hat in the cockpit window when we got on.”
Achmed: “I don’t have a good feeling about this.”
“Does mature mean old? ”
I intend to be even less mature than I am now if/when I get really old.
Old folks can get away with a lot.
I’ll probably break a hip running away from someone’s front porch after igniting a paper bag of dog poo and ringing their doorbell…
Here’s an idea for a CIA engineered solution to Gitmo.
Shortly after takeoff, “c0mmunists” hijack the plane, and demand that the pilot fly to Havana.
We get even with Castro for dumping all the criminals in Miami during the Mariel boatlift, and if the truth is ever leaked, we’ll at least win some brownie points with the environmentalists for finding a low carbon emission solution to the problem.
“Old folks can get away with a lot.

“That’s right, Reid is a buffoon for saying that. He’s not much of a majority leader either.”
Dora baby I love Ya..He hasn’t risen to the level of a good nickname for you yet but hey this is progress.
Sorry but I think most of these guys only care about getting elected. But I imagine it must be very difficult being a Democrat. There are just so many levels and factions in my old party. But its the left of the left that seems to be the loudest and the things they express are just not “main stream”. But I bet these lunatics are filling up the email accounts of these Democrats.

Go says:
“I don’t trust the government to excecute the correct guilty person in a death penalty sentence.”
Yet W never pardoned anything except the Thanksgiving Turkey, either as Texas Governor or POTUS.
Kind of like Pawlenty who can’t imagine a situation where he would ever raise the taxes on the big contributors to state revenues, and now the big contributors to his political ambition to be POTUS, back to former levels.
This will be a purple state alright. That is if we’re holding our breath waiting for the Governor to really show a little courage, do his job, and govern in the State’s interest.

There’s the rub. What’s in the State’s best interests is up for debate. I blame both the Gov. and the legislature, but I tend to side with the Gov. I’d rather see the cost of government as local as possible.

“PAPER: Stimulus Spending transparency not what promised…”
If things had been just a little different…

Looks like McCainCo is trying to hide all the money that is going to his Republican friends. Money that our children and grandchildren are going to have to pay back.

“Hoo-ah-eeh-ah-hoo-ahâ€
93 yesterday and 73 today. Is that the climate change everyone is talking about?
Obama is scheduled to give his, “close Gitmo/we are safer today from terrorism” speech today.
Cheny is scheduled to give his, “leave Gitmo open/we are less safe from terrorism” speech today.
Terrorists are arrested for planning to bomb Jewish sites in NY.
Obama in a rush to rewrite speech. Must add “I told ya so”
Cheny in a rush to rewrite speech. Must add “I told ya so.”
Good timing or what.
“Is that the climate change everyone is talking about?”
Tiny,
Don’tcha know nothin? Thats weather.
Climate change is when you have one bad Hurricane season.
Climate change is when you have one bad drought year.
Climate change is when you have one bad flood season.
Climate change is when you have Gullibal Gorists cultists screaming the sky is falling. And a 3rd rate plagerized exagerated slide show.
Climate change is when you have reports of cannibal polar bears, but no forensic evidence or photographic proof.
Climate change is when all else fails, you must call the skeptics illiterate climatephobics.
Climate change is your tax dollars being spent to line Carbon Al’s pockets.
P.S.
My two previous posts were ironic. Yes? No?
P.S. My previous post was sarcasm. No? Yes?
“Police found plastic explosives, a stinger missle and an acuostic guitar in their possession.â€
So Mark you’re saying everyone with an acuostic guitar is a terroists?
Now Bongo Drums I can see that but I think you’re painting a pretty broad brush here.
These guys I mean how stupid? I see a black guy with an acuostic guitar thats going to raise my suspicion level I can tell Ya that.
GO, According to Websters definition of sarcasm, your posts were sarcastic.
1: a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain.
Sarcasm can be either starical OR irnoic. I think you were being satirical but not irnoic. Kind of like I was being with Mr. Freakout Zach Roth.
“So Mark you’re saying everyone with an acuostic guitar is a terroists?”
Just the singer song writer. You dont believe that BS about how Jim Croce died do you?
“Funny, I’ve had a similar vision .. was it your left or right hip? ”
Right hip. I can already feel it starting to get a little funny. That’s gonna be the one that needs titanium at some point.

Unless if he’s wearing one of those Jamaica Hats, then its cool.

The good news is you won’t ‘buzz’ at the airport… I’ve tested it.

Lucky you. My aftermarket parts can be damaged by the metal detectors, so I can’t go through them at all. Last time I flew, the TSA guy didn’t merely feel the sacred sack, he checked every wrinkle for hidden contraband.
The worst part of it is that I can’t
even make sarcastic comments.
You know what was really missing from this Pelosi thing? The Shadowy digitally concealed voice CIA dude on the Today Show.
Maybe the “Sound Guy†refused to participate this time.
“… the TSA guy didn’t merely feel the sacred sack, he checked every wrinkle for hidden contraband.”
D2 works for the TSA?
“D2 works for the TSA?”
Touch the Sack Agency. Oh yeah… He’s a sack toucher alright.
“You know what was really missing from this Pelosi thing? The Shadowy digitally concealed voice CIA dude on the Today Show.”
Shadowy figured digital voice CIA guy ; “So Cake Face is sittin’ thereâ€
Matt; “You’re referring to Pelosi nowâ€
Shadowy figured digital voice CIA guy ; “Yeahâ€
Shadowy figured digital voice CIA guy ; “So anyhow. Cake Face is sittin’ thereâ€
See that Mark? I’m going for the “quoting myself” record.
Im perplexed by your level of immaturity Tiny.
I was wondering what the folks here thought of one of the centerpieces of Governor Pawlenty’s methods of dealing with Minnesota’s deficit problem. Specifically, is it a good idea to sell the state’s future revenue from the tobacco litigation, at a discount, to gain revenue now at the expense of the future?
“Specifically, is it a good idea to sell the state’s future revenue from the tobacco litigation, at a discount, to gain revenue now at the expense of the future?”
What’s the discount and how many more years are we getting the money?
If inflation starts to ramp up it might not be a bad idea depending on the discount and the time frame.
“D2 works for the TSA?”
This was in New York City. I don’t think D2 could handle the testicular diversity swinging its way through LaGuardia airport

Oh My………….

This is a good question I think.
I know if I won the Lotto right now I’d take the $80M in cash instead of the annuity that would eventually pay out $150M.
Bird in hand, as they say.
I guess as I take in the news about TPaw’s budget leadership I think, well, he’s really betting his career on going it alone. When people’s property taxes get jacked up next year and all the mayors say, blame your Gov, people just might.

Is it a good Idea to print money to gain revenue now at the expense of the future?
Is it a good Idea to claim Globull Warming is driving polar bears to cannibalism now at the expense of the future?
Is it a good Idea to use steroids to gain strength now at the expense of the future?
Is it a good Idea to sit on the toilet all day to gain nirvana now at the expense of future hemmoroids?
Is it a good Idea to be ironic to gain sarcasm now at the expense of the future?
Is it a good Idea to be sarcasic to gain irony now at the expense of the future?
Is it a good Idea to continue this train of thought to gain your love and affection now at the expense of the future?
Is it a good Idea to prep ones anus before eating hot spicy foods now at the expense of the future?
Is it a good Idea to believe TrueBlue would have posted his question if Krugman had proposed selling off the tabaco money to gain revenue now at the expense of the future?
Is it a good Idea to believe TrueBlue wears womens under garments while blogging to gain his inner self now at the expense of the future?
Th-th-th-thats all folks
I believe Nurse Ratchett is looking for you GO. Your medication is not working so now it has to be a little electro shock therapy.
Good news; your drooling problem will be solved.
Oh no!! You guys aren’t going to leave?!? What will we do without you?!?!
Honestly, I imagine most of you will end up migrating to TA. This blog is boring without the TAers.
Where is the announcement that Katherine is returning?
Where is the announcement that Katherine is returning?
It was in last Sundays paper that Katherine and Nick Coleman are both coming back to the opinion section.
Jeez… Go Twins. Up 20-0 in the 7th.
Interesting that they deleted the last topic post from Old Think Again and changed Katherine’s picture. They used an even softer filter than before. The Oprah filter. Any softer, it would be just plain blurry.
The beer goggles filter.
“Interesting that they deleted the last topic post from Old Think Again and changed Katherine’s picture.”
Where?
“The beer goggles filter”
It was more like the safety goggles filter. The old picture made me reflexively attempt to gouge my eyes out.
If you’re reading this, Katherine, sorry. The new picture is much better.
“Where?”
Deacon, the Think Again blog never went down, the Strib only took their link to it down. The blog itself is hosted on WordPress.
Just google Katherine Kersten and you can find it.
Never mind, mt posted the path right there.
“Im perplexed by your level of immaturity Tiny.”
I understand.
“Think Again and changed Katherine’s picture.”
Holy crap, it’s Marion Cunningham. Richies mom.
