As far as Sen. Amy Klobuchar is concerned, what happens in Duluth stays in Duluth. Or so she implied during a speech on the Senate floor yesterday, saying that the port city was the Sin City of the Midwest.
“What I heard in Nevada was something like 400 conventions had been canceled out of Las Vegas,” Klobuchar said. “We are just starting to see some improvements in our State. We call Duluth the Las Vegas of Minnesota. But we are starting to see improvements with business travel picking up, with some hope for consumers.”
The comment came during remarks about the hurting tourism industry, for which Klobuchar has been a major advocate in recent months.
